Two steps forward. One step back. So I got the Stuh all painted and markings applied and started painting the stowage which required me to remove the side panels. That was the first time styrene has stuck that well to brass and I ended up destroying the panels in the process. Not a real worry, they are easy to make again. But so far so good and it was much easier to paint the gear. That wasn't the real problem though... Take a look and see if you can guess. Need a hint. Something to do with the work stand. The wood screw mounting the model to the block is only accessible through the top. The fighting compartment top is glued in the place along with the tarp. Gah! In my excitement to make progress, I totally screwed myself. Before I went any further and risked destroying more work. I had to carefully cut through the block with a pull saw, Hack away at the stub with large wire cutters, Where I'm left with a stainless steel screw that is not pulling out. The only thing I could do was to back it into the fighting compartment and tuck it up in there. I'm going to need a few touch-ups. Some delicate PE popped off in the process. I hope you enjoyed this installment of Friday Fun.

Wow Brian! That will teach all of us to be a little more careful when using handles like that. At least you were able to get it off without major damage to the lower hull, always a plus. Nice progress on the paint and stowage.

Yeah, it's a lot easier when the model has a turret.

Dang! Glad you got away only losing some PE.
Like the idea of mounting the build to a handle.

It's the only way to fly Dupes. I would wear too much paint off or loose a lot more PE manhandling it without the block. The block in the photo is actually mounted to a base so it makes a nice steady pedestal. I have another one that has a machine thread screw mounted into the block and I use a small wing nut from the inside to secure the model.
This was the first time it backfired because I wasn't paying attention.

Thanks DP
Kaktus - I airbrushed Tamiya acrylics. All custom mixes. All thinned with their Laq thinner.

A really fantastic job so far Brian!! As for the screw....these things happens. Certainly makes for a memorable build! I she is getting mounted to a base, no one will see it anyway. I suppose next time fire up a soldering iron, hit the screw and grab it with some pliers. Just a thought! Looking forward to the feet and shoes goign on!! Keep it going!!

After that little set back was resolved, I was able to make a little progress towards finishing this thing. Still lots to do, tracks, additional white wash, spare tracks, dusting, dirt, mud, etc. Wheels aren't attached yet, etc, etc. But at least it isn't nailed to a block of wood any more. Fruil tracks are inbound. Yay!

Thanks guys. Just got the Fruil tracks from HobbyEasy last night.
I'm out of BlackenIt. Do any of the AK/Ammo/Ucshi blackening fluids perform any better or are they all the same?
