is making me rethink my venturing back into the hobby! Might have to sell everything and call it good!

I know what your saying, you think your stuff isn't bad, but then you go to a show or see some posts here and you just want to go home and throw your stuff out.

Don't be scared by the masters who sgow their work here, they are a bunch of friendly people who are always ready to help and explain what they do. Just try asking and you will learn a lot. I've learned from this forum in a couple of years more than what I've learned elsewhere in all my life.

It's a great time to be a modeler, don't let it scare you off! Just dive in and have fun, don't be afraid to experiment or ask questions, and enjoy!

I build kits to not try and out-do the next guy, but the particular vehicle's interest I have.
Gate guards to museum clean vehicles are what I like. Maybe a black wash to show some depth but that's about it.
To each his own!

I was quite intimidated when I first started up again. Some of the stuff I see is incredible. But, I have learned that building for myself is my biggest concern. If I get stressed about what I am doing, it is no longer enjoyable. I tend to under-weather and I am ok with that. A Staghound I just built actually turned out decent (to me) and the weathering turned out pretty good. But still weak compared to some. I was quite pleased to have found a great website of models by a guy that pretty much builds them clean. The paint jobs are stellar and they are very interesting to look at, but weathering is non-existent. My advice? Build them the way you like them. Try new techniques if you want, but don't freak out over it. For every person that dislikes your result, just as many will love it.

Just embrace the AMPS frame of mind .... the only one you're competing against is yourself.
