Here's a nice picture of the vehicle testing the theory that bigger is better and longer is really even better !
This is a Dutch Army vehicle in Afghanistan during the Battle of Chora firing its 155 mm L52 artillery gun .Impressive picture aye !
Facts about the PzH can be found here : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panzerhaubitze_2000
I'm building the Meng 1/35th kit .

I started this build the night I received the kit and I didn't take any sprue pics . Couldnt wait to get into it . So no sprue pics . Here's a pic of what I liked about this kit , its the separate torsion bars that work like the real McCoy . The Meng T90A has the suspension made like this also. A display of the round thingies . Meng added detail on the inside with this kit . I read that it wasn't there on their Leopard 1A kit . And now the sharp toothy object .Not much here to get excited about . Meng uses these poly caps between the wheel halves , reminiscent of Tamiya armor kits . Makes for easy assembly-age and is handy for wheel change out if the bearing got bad . A view you'll likely never see again . But still some detail on the hull bottom would of been good to see . Or not to see but know its there . There's a lonnnng aluminum gun barrel boxed up and packed in this kit . Gun assembly. The 2 parts that make up the recoil cover and evacuator , fit around the gun barrel and into a notch in the aluminum gun barrel , and are glued together there . The aluminum barrel end then slides thru the gun mount base . Finished assembly .The fit is tight and I haven't needed to glue it in place . The gun assembly is well engineered and looks great . Meng decided to add to the parts count by having these panels as glue on parts . I don't like the fit as there is molded on weld beads but a small gap needs to filled in . Guess I'll flow c.a. in the gap . Finished the smoke grenade launchers .Some fiddly stuff . This PzH 2000 in Netherlands Army service .

I'm in on this one Carl!! That's a big gun you have there...or you are just happy to see me? Might have to screw the back half of this beast down to the bench so it does not face-plant! Following with interest!

Thanks for looking in gents ! So a couple of things got done the other night . This'll be my second attempt at publishing this update as yesterday I spent 30 min pecking away with my two thumbs only to have the Photo bucket page lock up and then my thumbs went and wiped out the update here ..... .....ARRRRGHHH ! Or as my dogs would say @#$%&(*) ARRRRRRFFFF !!!!! So here's another attemptation and the publication of this updation .........huh ? Any ways . Pray for me I'm going to Photo bucket now . Tip toeing thru the bucket .Shhhhhh , don't wake up the bucket monster ! I found the attaching of the gun trunions a bit tricky as the fit was a bit loose so I used these longish tweezers and a nice n' bright green Harbor Freight anniversary edition clamp to hold stuff in place . Repeated same procedure on the other side when the glue got cured out here . Here's a picture of the assemblyage of the gun to clarify how all of it fits togerther . The main point here is that there is friction needed in order to keep the weight of the aluminum gun from allowing it to droop , as they say , cough . A couple of poly caps are used at the axis to create the needed friction . Techical drawing. Here's the look of that Looooooong Bigggggg gun all mounted up . Hope you enjoy this update as much as I do .I avoided another close one from the Bucket monster but managed to escape .

Hey Andy I've gotten better at using it . Main thing for me was getting used to the idea that it takes longer to cure than Tamiya paints but maybe that's a good thing aye ?

Nice work as usual Carl. Not sure why but I really like this vehicle. And that's' coming from one of those "I don't build modern armor" guys. It was that same pic in the 1st post that I saw one day and that it was just too cool. Cool enough that I bought the Revell kit in 1/72 with the transporter too. I might just dig it out and fondle the plastic again At the time when searching all the cool pics of this vehicle I found this one and thought, " Now that would be one cool vignette. Huge, but cool."
