I'm wanting to do a plane for the possible PTO japanese aircraft GB, and was wondering what kits are the best in 1/48 scale. I know the old kits are cheap but have raised panel lines. I'd like to get a decent kit at a good price. Are the Tamiya kits as good as they say ?! I don't want an expensive kit, just in case I mess it up...or it gets shelved never to see the bench again.

I think the Tamiya 1/48 Zeros are pretty good. I have one in the stash, the details are fantastic, probably no AM will be needed. I gues being a Japanese company they HAVE to make sure that the Zero kits would be good

Thanks guys for the feedback. I did check out some Tammy zeros at the show and yes they are very good, but the vendors were asking too much. The Hasegawa kits look very good as well and I couldn't decide which plane to get. The zero was very tempting and the cheapest was $23. I ended up paying $19 for the Kate. I thought it was a cool looking plane so I grabbed it. I should have grabbed a US plane while there...next time eh.
