Landing Barge - I'm going nutts...........and bolts!

Many thanks chaps, thanks once again for the ongoing support. Unfortunately no progress since last report. A lot going on at my end so barge packed up for safe keeping at minute, and in interests if domestic bliss, I haven't dared risked 'fiddling with bits of plastic!'

A wee update of what's going on at my end, after 10 years in my current job/company and 22 years in construction I am leaving the industry tomorrow, scary stuff as I'm moving to the defence industry, Advances Weapons to be exact (I really do like saying that !), but I'm looking forward to the challenge and learning something new. I also go on holidays next week, so will be away from bench phone and computer for 2 weeks.

Hi all, thanks for sticking with me, summer holidays, new job etc have slowed me down even more, but I have got a little update.

first off, a rather tasty storage/transport case by Mr Jon Page of Progressive Engineering. the carcass of the barge is sitting on black acrylic sheets (white protective cover will come off at the end). 6 inch acrylic rods elevate it, but for display these will be 12 inches so you can see the underside.







start of the handrails. a lot of PE bending and fingers stuck together with CA!









a bit of detail for the side, these 3 tubes house position marking Buoy and the big tube on the right is 'rescue pack' canister.







other side, 3 big AC units that will feed into a chiller plant, bit more work to do on these.



and finally something to secure the ISO container.



Thanks again for sticking with this. hopefully I will have it ready for painting by Christmas!

Joeydee, yea that's the look I'm going for, thank god for the Meng nuts and bolts set, saved so much time and effort.

just a quickie folks, a little work trying to bring the AC units on.







fan units and some gobbins will be visible through the front grill, these will be mounted on the side of the barge so will be very grubby.

Me John, acrylic sheet (10mm & 3mm) laser cut/scribed and the grills are PE that I also got made up.
