Hey guys,
My nex victim is the LaGG-3 of Captain Leonid Galchenko. Its probably the most famous LaGG-3 and i want to build one of his latest types, a fourth series. The LaGG-3 has 66 types (!) and build in series. The series were made by a lot of changes due production. Each series existed out of productionbatches of 50 a 100 aircraft build at the same time. All changes during production lead to another type. Main producer of LaGG's was plant (zavod) 21 in Gorky.
I bought 1/48 LaGG-3 availible from ICM. But when i did some reaserch, i found out that the kit is more 1/50 scale than 1/48. This is seen mostly by the fuselage behind the cockpit. its to short (Vector resin also makes a LaGG-3 for 70,- and has also some scale issues, although the detail is superior). I read on a thread that the best way to build a 1/48 LaGG-3, is to kitbash the Zvezda La-5 and LaGG-3.
Now i am busy with the wing section of the La-5 to fit all the parts of the ICM kit i need there. Like the belly cooler and the chargerintakes on the wingroots. When i am finnished with the wingsection i wil post some photo's soon.
Regards,
Remco
