After seeing the various futuristic cars produced by Marcel du Long, and especially his latest creation the "Rosso Racer" I was inspired to have a go. Many years ago I was seriously into making model aircraft, while my interest in that area has subsided I still have various boxes of bits. So a rake through these produced a number of potentially useful parts. From memory there are bits from 1/72 Super Sabre, 1/48 P51 and Avenger, Bearcat , etc, etc The interior tub, seat, controls , etc, etc were all scratch built So here it is , many thank to Marcel for not only the inspiration but also with the practical help and advice during the build & painting

Thanks for the positive comments folks, appreciated. Been trying to sort how to display it, think I will go with just a very simplistic & minimalist approach. Plain semi-gloss black base with guard rail and figure similar to this mock up

Are you sure it's a SciFi? It looks like something we might have seen at Bonneville Salt Flats in about 1967. The blue/orange color combination gives it the feel of a real test vehicle.

Looking good Gordon! Just like John aid it's not sci-fi it's more like a Bonneville salt lake racer.
The guardrail is a sweet addition as well as the figure. Perhaps a little gulf logo decal on the pilots' suit?
