A really eyecatching project. Love "everything"... tanks... scratch... details... the base is superb... and the free-style use of decals in the Pz II, cool ! Cheers Jelly

Thanks guys! Really appreciated! I more or less finished the base to be ready for integration, when the tanks and figures would be ready. Would add some barrels, and similar industrial stuff lying around later. I drybrushed and dusted the ground, gave it some minor corrections, and also progressively dusted the lower part of the basements. I made a wooden base - a 25mm thick plywood board 6mm wider then the plaster base, framed with 28mm high wooden profile strips, and toned in dark redbrown. A 3mm channel on each side would be used to hold the plexiglas box. The plaster base is however not yet glued to the wood.

Sweet! You're right, figures would liven this up considerably. You could also make a random junkpile of two laying about the empty spots; after all there's a war on they get messy.
Regards, Mark

After a small break, I decided to go on with the project - I hope to finish it until next weekend, where a modeling show is happening in Fuerstenfeldbruck, close to me, so I could enter this project to competition. I did the following works since last update: Added heap of trash (rusty metal, bricks, dirt, sand, stones...) with a showel sticking out of this. Added sand accumulations, and some grassy stuff along the building. Made 5 figures, assembled of different Preiser sets, sometimes as is, sometimes with very heavy surgery and resculpting (DT gunner). The guys should be a worker's militia unit, as can be seen on some non-army headgear - when raising such units in a hurry, amount of uniform issued highly varied - many guys kept their civilian headgear (berets, caps, peaked caps of different origin), often trousers and boots were also civilian. The guys are still glossy, as the oil colors shading is still drying over a layer of future. Pz.II is not yet finished also - lots of weathering is still needed.

So, the diorama is slowly coming to the end - in time for competition in Fuerstenfeldbruck on the weekend. The tanks and figures are already fixed, just a few minor "gags" remaining to live it up (some dropped tools, etc), and the name shield would be done by the engraver during my lunch break today. The name I decided upon is "The last reserve - summer 1941" I also made a plexiglass cover, planning to make it plex-only, but the glue ran out a bit and I need to frame this. Wooden framing I had looks too thick however, so need to think out a better option now, maybe using some thin veneer from my wood ship modeling stores..
