Hey there, I just recently joined after a 6 year hiatus and I must say this is definitely the best forum that I have come across so far!! There is such a good vibe amongst the various modelers from different countries, all with their own unique disciplines yet encouraging and helping each other along the way. In September/ October last year I suffered a cerebral haemorrhage, it started out with prolonged pressure inside my head and progressed towards bouts of vertigo, nausea, loss of speech, and a constant numb feeling in my arms and legs. Scary sh*t!! Luckily I was able to get treatment and had some time off work to recover. My last visit to the neurologist was quite funny, he said in his own words "Get back to doing the small things in life, because they are the things that keep us most level and creative and will eventually help out in your recovery" I mentioned figure painting..it was a bingo!! He also had a passion for figure painting!! Anyways, I just wanted to thank Wouter for passing on this forum to me...I haven't found too many places where I can post the quirky stuff that I'm into...and on a personal plus point, I have caught up with an old mate from a very long time ago. His work inspired me then and still does to this day. A few months ago I wasn't too sure whether I would be able to walk or talk properly...it feels good to be back!! Happy New Year!! Shay

Glad to hear you enjoy hanging about the "house" here Shay! When Rob (Scratchmod) started the site way back, one of the main reasons was to create a place where people could hang out and enjoy not only building and showing their works but engaging with like-minded individuals without all the pressure and BS that I think we have all seen in the past form other forums. "Build what you like, when you like and how you like it...only rule is to have fun doing it", this has become MSC's mantra. This will always be!
I think it is great that you found your way back to the hobby and even more so that you found MSC and still yet more...that you are recovering! Best of luck to you and Happy new year my friend!!

Glad you like it here! We hope to see you here more too as we are very easy going bunch of modelers. Loss of speech? Maybe you should start learning sign language because I am profoundly deaf and I use it on daily basis.

Welcome to the forum Shay and all the best with your recovery mate. I know what it's like to go through a rough patch health wise, it really puts life into a different perspective. I think you made a great choice getting back into modelling, it will keep your mind off things and help you stay active.
So here's to a better year for both of us Shay.

Hi Shay its great to have you here and glad that modelling will help you in your recovery . MSC is one of the more chilled sites out there and anything flys here..... modelling wise . On a personal note I can suffer from depression and there is nothing I can do about it , family thing passed down the line. Modelling is a great way for me to get into the zone also .... happy modelling

Hi all, Thanks for the replies! It sure was a crazy moment in time, I originally thought it was the big C..thankfully it wasn't. I'm glad that I was able to take a break and recover and luckily I haven't had any side effects to date Back to work Monday after a two week vacation...pity this thing called work will cut into my modeling time!!! Welcome aboard Shay! Great bunch of folks we have here, I have learned so much, and not just modeling, but also history on many of the modeling subjects.

Heck, I wish I had read all the postings sooner, but sadly I get it managed one thread after another! Me too, Dude, glad that you are here because it is cool and refreshing to discuss things with you, listen to your humor (sometimes I have to laugh loud when reading some of yours or Deafs comments, so my wife stares at me not knowing what the hell is going on!) and liking your figure work. It is REALLY cool to strenghten the figure lobby here with a man like you. Guess, there are tons of discussions in the future, so keep it going and stay healthy brotha!
