Thanks. I've seen the layout on the PzIV but is it the same on the PZIII?

Thanks. I've seen the layout on the PzIV but is it the same on the PZIII? The tail light assembly would be the same I would think. Why would that change from the III to the IV when they are built simular, but hey what do I know the Germans did some strange things.

Thanks. I've seen the layout on the PzIV but is it the same on the PZIII? Essentially the same. If you go back and look at the original photo you posted at the start of this thread Brian (I have the same photo, clearer, in the Trojca book on the Pzkpfw III), you'll see that there's no wire that connects from the light across the fender to the hull side. The wiring instead goes under the fender and into the hull just like on the IV. HTH! Since there's usually a spare wheel that mounts right behind that light on most Pz IIIs, it's not something that's readily visible most of the time so very hard to get a good look at it in most reference photos!

Try this one on for size Brian. As far as I can tell the wiring on the rear lights on IIIs was integrated into the mount and then passed under the fender into the hull. Same would be true for the round brake light on the opposite fender.

If the top is part of the wire - it is very small.

Thanks for all the technical help. I looked through a few walk arounds and didn't see wires but assumed these were missing because of incomplete restorations. I will need to check my books tonight. Started on the white wash last night. I hope additional weathering can tie this all in, right now it's a bit stark.

No problem, always glad to help when it comes to little details like this, the Pz III is one of my favorite subjects so happen to have a lot of reference pics in different forms!

I do not know how it will help (Google did not help) but the convoy called lantern - abstandsruecklicht and brake lights - halteschlusslicht

I'd say you captured the look/effects quite nicely Brian! Trying to get to match 100% would be a frustrating exercise I'm sure. Got to love the little quirks including those S-hooks holding the spare track run in place on the nose.

Thanks all. The partial white wash makes this one unique. Otherwise I'm just repeating myself from an earlier build.

Bryan - Hi! Not too late to change the palette of camouflage? (Photos of the prototype on the first page i saw))) I stared at the photo as though something is missing. Then I realized ... if a bit on the edges of the sheet to add white - it seems to me that would look much better. I will not say that this is the only right decision, each author's own vision of the situation - just suggested option.

Nice update Brian. Perhaps you can add some gloss varnish spots at the edges/borders of the snow to enhance wet areas.
And if you want to be technical/historical correct don't put snow on the engine deck but I guess you know.
Marcel.

Thanks for the feedback fellas.
Serzh - I see what you mean. Thank you. Marcel - Yep. The gloss details are next. Have you found a good medium for wet effects? Thinned Humbrol tends to collect at the edges. I've had better luck with Vallejo Clear Gloss. Snow on the engine deck? That would be silly!:-) Wes - Thanks.

Cheers, Ski.
