Beautiful work Bill. With the addition of figures, you've raised the bar, yet again!

Awesome. I fell a little behind on keeping up, but that just gave me a nice chunk of material to go through now. Great stuff as usual. The figures are top notch. Can't wait to see what's next

Thanks Todd! Fortunately the 222 is small enough that a little base and a couple of figures still fits inside the usual display case. That and of course Andy's evil influence... Thanks Boyd! Always wanted to do a 222 ever since I did Tamiya's 223 waaaaaay back when but just never got around to it. The Hobby Boss kit provided just the right nudge to get it to the top of the build pile. Jimmy, glad you stopped in and got caught up! Thanks as always, not sure what will be next, have to poll the stash and see what speaks the loudest.

Looks good, Bill. Did you think of possibly moving the 3rd guy up by the water cans? You could have him messing with something on the fender there. It would add a focus point on that side of the vehicle.
Just a thought....

For some reason, this whole thread, I've had Tristar in my head, but no, this is the Hobby Boss kit. OK, I've got it now. Carry on...

Thanks Jeremy! Jimmy, they all say that, it's just a case of which one is the most persuasive when the time comes to pick the next one! Now when they start waking you up at night, you know a line's been crossed. Bob, I tried all the different possibilities for 3rd guy to make it in and it just didn't work out. His height/pose was just right for the engine hatch inspection but looked downright weird anywhere else...that and on the opposite fender with the other 2 jerry cans there's a rock that slopes up, which made his placement and footing even more treacherous! It worked out ok in the end as he was kind of my least favorite (I can say that now that he's been put away in the spares bin and can't hear it...) of the bunch! He was supposed to be holding a jerry can and pouring it in the original Dragon scene mix of 4 total guys, so I knew his use was always going to be limited as a result. Boyd, glad you've got it straight! Surprisingly you don't see or hear much about the Tristar 222 kit, not sure why to be honest. Could be down to when it was produced/released as it was close to when Tristar stopped production? Mark, I have to admit to a strange feeling of out-of-body type experience the last couple of months while finishing this one up. I blame Andy! Glad you like how it turned out. Bob (M1) and Matt, thanks as well gents!

Sorry for being late... I have been trying to catch up on all threads but it is hard to keep up with everybody after being away for few days.
Like I said on FB I really love this build as you know how much I enjoy seeing complete builds with bases and figures. I hope you enjoyed and will do it again?

Thanks Andy! Glad you're getting back to 'normal' from your Mr. Mom tour of duty. I enjoyed doing the base and figures but it's probably not something I will do every time for 3 reasons: 1) the added time 2) the added cost and 3) the added space! This time around only #1 was a factor, normally the other two combine to make it a challenge depending on what I'm building.

I'm starting to be like Andy. 2 Andys? Now that's a scary thought But if that's what it takes to keep producing little gems like this, and while it will take some getting used to, so be it.

Thanks Chris! Marc, I agree, that would be a scary thought. But it works both ways you know, Andy's fallen under the spell of building aircraft and ships too! Wes, thanks for the kind words, glad you got caught up with it just in time!

Hi Bill,
Followed this one over on FB. What can I say, another outstanding finish. Really like it. The base with the figures and lizard really set if off. Well done!

Great work, Bill! Now you just need to bang out a Tamiya and Tristar build to go alongside this one. You know, a "compare and contrast" thingy.

Great work, Bill! Now you just need to bang out a Tamiya and Tristar build to go alongside this one. You know, a "compare and contrast" thingy. That would be interesting...but I suspect it would take a while with the Tristar kit, maybe not so much with the Tamiya. According to the PMMS run-down, the Tristar kit's on par with the HB kit in terms of detail level with the exception of the engine bay: www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/tristar/tri35043.html

So are you saying you're "222d out" right now? I don't blame you. Hehe. I've satisfied my armored car cravings for a while! The HB kit is the most involved and detailed of the three kits so I chose wisely in that area at least!

Dupes, I've narrowed it down to 2-3 candidates and will be making the final selection soon depending on which one gets the most votes in a nationally televised competition later this week that's already been rigged in advance based on secret focus group testing in order to get the most ratings. Dierk, thanks for following along! Glad to hear you enjoyed it as much as I did.

One of the best I've seen mate, great DAK scene, very realistic base too, and I love the subtle weathering and the figures, they're very well painted !
