It's about time I got my feet back on dry land for a bit so what better way to kick off 2015 than with an armored car!  Project will feature the Hobby Boss kit #82442 1/35 Sdkfz 222 Leichter Panzerspahwagen 2cm along with some metal KwK38 and MG34 barrels and some resin tires to replace the kit's vinyl ones.  The kit includes some nice interior details so will be spending some time on that for sure. |

Mmmm, I love the 222. Built the old Tamiya kit and have the Tristar in the stash. Will definitely pay attention to this build, Bill!

Glad to have you along gents! Deano, it does include a full interior including an engine (although displaying that is not easy!), so should provide a lot of fun relative to the total size of the build.  |

Glad to have you along Leon and Dupes! Don't know how long it will take me...but it's all about the journey and not the destination...at least that's what my dad used to say, usually right before he added "and don't make me have to come back there..." while on road trips. |

T, my good friend Mike Del Vecchio has been wanting me to do a 'car' so I figured I could slide this one in and make him happy all at the same time.

Cool! I did one of these a few years back, it was mostly fun except the PE which I was not accustomed to working with at that time. Have to be keepin and eye on this one

Glad to have you onboard Mike! The PE for the grenade screens can be a little daunting if you're not familiar with working with PE for sure. So far it looks like HB provides a good deal of PE for the appropriate areas right out of the box so that's a plus IMHO. Bryan, yes but only under ideal conditions and for very short durations! |

Got the wheels turning on this one and started in on Step 1 which deals with the chassis frame and various details. The front and rear drive elements get assembled first, each one has 6-8 parts and some clean-up is necessary on the drive halves in terms of flash, mold lines, etc. to get them together.  Then the real fun begins in terms of pairing up the two frame halves with all the different braces and other detail elements that go into the 'box'. It doesn't help that the tab fits for some of the brace components is a little loose, so you have to be patient and work from front to back to get it all together without gluing your fingers together or to the frames in the process. In the end though, it all comes together as intended. Ignore the number I wrote inside the right hull frame member...I got it backward when I wasn't paying attention and it doesn't matter regardless as the two parts are handed and can't be mixed up either way.  I did a quick check against the lower hull to make sure it was all lined up as it needed to be and will let that set up before moving on to the suspension elements which is another multi-part affair for the four wheels. |

I remember "back in the day" you had a running tally of your completed builds (when you hit 100, I think). Still got that going?
