Thanks Leon! The Bending Guy's head has a slight resemblance to Stan Laurel (of Laurel & Hardy fame) I think!

You are doing great on the figures... I have to admit better than I expected! Wait until you use dark washes it will make a huge difference...

Thanks Andy! I think you're right about the washes. Should bring out the details nicely especially on Standing Guy.

More progress on the Three Guys to report today. I was going to fit a pair of desert goggles to both of the guys wearing the field caps but one of the goggles was damaged as I was drilling out the lenses...so only one pair ended up getting used. I used some scrap PE to create the goggles elastic band and fitted it after annealing the strap and gluing it in place with some CA. Tamiya Clear Red for the lenses was used as after checking several references, this seemed to be a common option for DAK goggles. I'm assuming it helped with the sun glare in addition to cutting down on the dust. Either way, it adds a nice little bit of contrast I think. The Three Guys got some more of their uniform details picked out and I also resolved the heads-on-spikes situation by permanently joining them to the torsos and fitting the headgear where appropriate. Sitting Guy also got his arm permanently attached and blended in with the rest of his torso and cardigan. More to come!

I'm using Testors enamels...some are the little square bottles, others are the standard Model Master enamels depending. The lizard is sporting elements of a Luftwaffe scheme if you can believe it!

Do you not like acrylics for figures?

Do you not like acrylics for figures? To be honest Deano I'm not set up for acrylics for any use but don't have anything against them per se. Enamels are what I've got handy and since I don't do figures on a regular basis, there's no point in investing in the necessary supplies, etc. to be able to do them with acrylics. Purely an economy of scale question only! Andy, I'm having fun with putting the whole thing together and working on the little details. Glad to hear you're enjoying it along with me.

Yeah I get ya mate , if you do get into figures for dio purposes I swear by Vallejo Model color . Only from the drying time aspect of things and they are just so easy to work with . I really do like the colours you have used on these guys , looking great buddy !

Thanks Leon! I've been chipping away at little details here and there including the water jerry cans for both a rack on the fender and for Sitting Guy's seat...but they aren't to the point of being ready for a pic just yet. Most fun with the lizard was getting his eyes right...small points of Tamiya Clear Red that the camera has a hard time picking up but are there.

Getting close to slinging some color on the out side of that 4-wheeled beast soon!! That's true Todd...can't trust Andy with anything these days! As for exterior paint, that's still a little ways off. I need to still do the gun and mount for the interior before I tackle the outside stuff...but it will get here soon enough I think!

RLM 79 over 76 with spots? I thought that lizard looked familiar. Love the little guy. Wish I had one to put on the wing of my Trop 109 lol Looking good all around. Can't wait to see what the final scene ends up looking like.

Todd, yep, it's all Andy's fault...he distracted me from the main effort! Jimmy, he's a real 'Tropen' lizard...can't beat natural camouflage for inspiration I guess. He has RLM 78 for his lower half if the Testors bottle off Hellblau is to be believed at any rate. Thanks Bob and Dierk! Glad you like how it's coming along.

Finished up the work on the figures today. Sitting Guy needed a seat and since I'm planning to add 2 jerry water cans in a rack on the right front fender, I scrounged 3 cans from my spares bin courtesy of past Dragon builds. Panzer gray base coat by airbrush followed by Light Gray for the water can cross markings. I dry brushed some Steel and then stippled and dry-brushed panzer gray for some chipping and wear since these buys would've been taken in and out of the racks on a daily basis for use by the crew. Speaking of the crew, the Break-dance Trio were treated to a sealing coat of Future and I let that cure up overnight. Then an overall wash of thinned enamel Raw Umber was applied to their uniforms and clothing and adjusted/removed as needed with a 10/0 pointed brush and clean thinner. I also lightly dry-brushed some of the original uniform color, Armor Sand, in various spots to pick out some highlights or blend in the shadows a little bit. I also did a little work on the exposed flesh areas. I added a very light wash of enamel Light Brown to give them more of a tanned look and tone down the slightly pinkish feel of the earlier Light Tan base color. Sitting Guy got his canteen and cup added and Standing Guy also got his morning coffee plus a cigarette. Last but not least, I sprayed some Testors Lusterless Flat to tie everything back together and remove the Future gloss. Small drops of Future were added to Sitting Guy's goggles to restore their lens look since the Flat knocked that back too much for my taste. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how these guys turned out...now I just need to keep them off to the side until the base is ready to take them.
