While waiting for the wash on the Karl-Gerät to dry, I decided to take a first shot at the Jigabachi. Hours later I was still working on it. This is an exceptionally fun kit, and an astoundingly precise one. It's very clean, completely flashless, and pieces are so exactly fitting that most connections could probably hold without glue. It's also very small, surprisingly small for its box size. Only about 5 inches from a fairly large box.

Ahh the old HUGE BOX/small model trick!! I see it a lot!! LOL!! Then there is the occasional DML that I swear they have someone sit on it to keep the lid down before they pop the plastic on it! Thought this was going to be a cool little kit...I was right! Moving right along!!

Had to click on this thread just to see what the heck you were talking about! I was half expecting to see the S.E. Asian version of the George Foreman grill! Nice looking kit.

Off to a great start! Box sizes vs. plastic contents can often be a mystery...but since these are designed for containerization and shipping around the globe, sometimes you get a lot of 'air' in the box as a result!

Thank you Leon! TRM, and WBill76, Indeed, some models seem to be like Lays Potato chips, 90% air. Oddly enough, there's not a lot of empty space in this box, but rather numerous sprues of very small parts. The hull above consists of about 35 despite its small size and seemingly uncomplicated make-up. Nowhere near as complex as the AFV Panzerfunkwagen, but very intricate and precise. There are also 3 sprues for the Tachimokas, little tanks that come with the kit. Definitely got my money's worth from this one, despite the tiny size. afvfan and Deano, thank you both! I can only assume the S.E. Asian version of the George Foreman grill is roughly as complex and comes with as many detailed parts. I understand they have toilets in Japan that work on computers more complicated than the totality of our Apollo space program.

Jigabachi before and after final assembly and painting: Next I'll make the Tachikomas and stick one to the helicopter with a white rope to match the scene from the show.

The Jigabachi comes with 3 Tachikomas. A good thing as I wrecked the first in an attempt to paint it on the sprue. Here an unpainted assembled Tachikoma encounters the failed attempt by its creator- It recovered from the horror and got its own metallic blue coat later-

And... Finished! Here's the complete scene where a Tachikoma has caught a Jigabachi: The Tachikoma is about a cubic inch in size and is easily the smallest, most complex thing I've built and painted. I think it came out pretty well.

Nice. I built one of these a few years ago but never got around to finishing the Tachikoma. This is sweet little kit - expensive though and you have done a great job.
Cheers,

Thank you Brett! Luckily I found it fairly cheap on Amazon, there's a reboxing of the original $200+ model that comes with new art and three Tachikomas. I good thing as I botched one horribly. It's rare model kits give one a second chance!
