Hi guys , I have been busting to do this project for a while now so I thought I would get it off the ground Anyhoo its a Fantasy project using WWII kit parts, plastic card , tube and rod with some wiring . The main body will be from a Panther and the legs will be scratch built ..... other things will be added as I go along . I do have loads of other builds on so this could be a long standing project ...pardon the pun .... we will see how it goes ............ I wont be using the Topcolors book its just an old pic showing the Panther kit I will be using ..... so many issues with this kit as Panther that chopping it up and using the rest for spares seems a good plan

Hey Deano great project. I have tried a couple of these (failed sherman walker that got binned and a current Pz.IV inspired project), so if it's okay I'll share some things that I l have learned.
1)Think about a dedicated lower hull. I found it looks better and will make attaching the legs easier.
2) The legs are hard to get to look right. I played around with 3D designs in sketchup before I settled on a look, then had a master 3D printed and detailed for casting so I didn't have to make multiple items.
I'll send you some images later today if you are interested so that you can see what I mean.
Good luck man and I am very keen to see how you get on.
Cheers,
Brett

Thanks for dropping in guys , I have my first update and thats some wise words Rev . The main thing you need to get right is the connection of the legs so the model looks balance . I chose to work on the hull first to get this and the shape ready ....... I have shaped the front so the Panther features can still be seen but also wanted to bulk the front end up ! You can see the rod where the legs will be attached to the hull ... I will be working on these next ;0

You will do some legs like the Chickenwalker (AT-ST) from the STAR WARS movies? MAYBE check out the Bandai SW kits they are doing now, and there is a AT-ST in the pipeline, highly detailed, with super done legs. Maybe as some kind of inspiration.

Yes Frank thats what Im going for , was tempted to get a Robogear Raptor for the legs but reckon I will get more enjoyment from scratch building them . Wont be easy but thats where the fun is

Hi Deano,
I've seen something at Blackdog, same scale (http://www.blackdog.cz/scifi-72.html) but surelly you have a nice idea. Following with interest and can't wait to see when you are painting metallics, rust, weathering and the scenery. Cheers, Nicolae

Cheers, Nicolae Hi guys and thanks , yeah I have seen these models which is where the inspiration came from but dont really like them . Part of the reason this project came about , making my own version of a WWII Walker Well I have formed the lower part of the legs and I need to make the feet so I can make the hydraulics ............

Whoah...where did this come from, Deano? I had no idea you were into stuff like this!
Looks sharp already. I have lots of Battletech references if you want more mech-style leg ideas.
