Apologies if a thread like this has already been done or is obsolete given the other threads here, but I'm curious to see what people here consider the "Holy Grail" of their model interests, the kit or kits that they'd pay anything for, hunt for until the end of time, that they scour eBay for daily. Or even just those they really want and have yet to purchase. Here are some of mine- The Nostromo from Alien by Halcyon, I'm also after the Queen alien and Dropship but the Nostromo is the ultimate find. The Harkonen Ornithopter from Dune by Revell The Rodger Young from Starship Troopers by ? And Revell's Bucket Wheel Excavator.

Totally agree on all of the "Alien" stuff - can't believe that no one else has made kits for that stuff since 1986!

Hi Delta, I only have two figures which I would do anything to get my hands on!! The first is the 54mm Stan Laurel figure from Toy Soldiers, second is this gnome figure from Elisena. Both figures are OOP. These figures I received from Gino Poppe a number of years ago and were part of my stash that got lost during the shifting of houses after a divorce many years ago. Sentimental reasons I guess...this is the stage they were at before they dissapeared....

Uah, maybe you will hate me now, especially Delta, but I sold my Nostromo some years ago, half build and lighted so far. The vinyl parts were a bit wraped and I had no cool idea how to solve the problem so I decided to give it up. Good idea because I saw a NOSTROMO scratch build a bit later in a German SF forum which blew me away. It has a detail count no injection kit could ever show and was really minddestroying! As for a Queen from Halcyon, it was in my stash too, but not the way I would keep it. Check out for the new Queen from PALISADES. Must be around 35 inch in length and top detailed. Here in Germany it is sold around Euro 100.
Ahem, Shay, the gnomes were in my collection, too. But I sold them also... Sadly.

Frank- Will look into the new Queen! I could hardly hate you for sharing my interests Leon- Thanks for the heads up. That is the one I'm looking for. There's one on ebay for $75 right now but I tend to avoid buying anything online unless absolutely critical. I'm still hoping someday to run into one in person...

As nice as it is, that excavator is just begging for a massive PE upgrade set.

Kits of, mostly, film related characters often disappears quicker than an ice in the sunshine. Often, casting quality is beyond belief (that is meant negative!) and detailing not the way I would love it, so I have stopped buying overprized garagekits and sculpt them myself. In my scale, for shelf reasons!

As lame as it sounds I'd really like a model of the "Jungle Cruise" boat from Disneyworld. Around 12-14" long. In time I will probably take a crack at scratch building one. Its a hokey ride, but I've got a soft spot for it. I remember going on it when I was about 4yrs old and nearly getting into a fist fight with my cousin because he didn't believe me that "I saw a gorilla turn over a jeep!" on vacation. We took our son there when he was about 2 and he still talks about the gorilla he saw 11 months later. Silly, but it brings a smile to my face that he had a similar reaction to mine 30yrs later. I'd love it for my office. Otherwise a good vvss suspension M4 with a dozer blade in plastic. Don't want to deal with resin that big. Cheers #57

And Revell's Bucket Wheel Excavator. Had never seen this kit before, and just came across it yesterday at the show...what's a "good" price for it?

I'm afraid I'm not good for pricing kits, I have very little experience in that respect and have merely gone from based on how much things would cost to get from Amazon plus shipping and considered that the price to match, plus a bit more for the convenience of getting it immediately and not worrying about shipping damage. For this kit it's $126 new, so I figure $130 is a pretty good price, and I'd likely pay up to $150 for the convenience if I saw it in person. I'd probably buy it from Amazon now though if I had the cash. I'm afraid I'm way over my model kit budget for the next few months If you get it though, I beg you to share the build here in great detail

Maybe you are going to hunt me down and make a trophy of my head, but I wanted to buy this kit always: For kitbashing uses. I would canibalize the parts for other builds that means... But I have seen this thing in reality, was not far away from my home the days it was in action. You can not imagine how big this creep is!

Too late now as I'm several hundred miles away, but somebody had one for $99. Wasn't sure how "rare" that kit was.

Frank- Couldn't blame you at all, it's an epic assortment of good shapes. Awesome you got to see the real thing!
Dupes- Definitely a good price, but it doesn't seem to be too horribly rare. Hopefully someday...

Ari, this kit WAS rare some years ago! Same goes for the North Sea Oil plattform, done by Revell, too. Maybe they will release this thing, too!

It may be best to consider it still rare, again my only knowledge comes from what's on Amazon and eBay. There are currently 2 in stock at Amazon and 8 for sale through private Amazon sellers, but these may well be the last copies left on Earth. There are also 8 on eBay but these may be the same exact ones. So I've filed it under "When I have the money" for now, but others with more knowledge of model kits may have a better idea of just how uncommon it is. There are 3 Oil Platforms left through Amazon and 2 through its private sellers.
