Hi guys, I picked up a sweet deal on two Batman resin figures (35€ a piece)....both at a whopping 1/5 scale (35cm I guess?)!! The first is Danny Devito's pinguin, the second Jack Nicholson as the joker. They seem very well detailed and painted. My idea was to strip the paint off and repaint them, as I only work with 54mm any tips in the painting process would really help me out!! Cheers, Shay

Airbrush will help and if you want to have a look how to tackle a big figure like that I recommend Amazing Figure Modeler Magazine. I'm a subscriber for several years now and I love that mag

Thanks Biskup!! I will check that for sure, the figures arrive Monday but I will post a few shots I took from the sellers site tomorrow. An airbrush is becoming very tempting... Shay

Right! An airbrush is a really useful thing, especially when it comes to big skin parts like these... Maybe Ill give her a repaint too some time.

I was just like you looking for some guide lines on big figures and I came across it. Thank you for the comments on the cyborg as I know I would paint it better now. Out of curiosity let me know what figures did you buy??

Hey mate, These are the two figures I purchased. At first I thought they were figures that were already painted in mass production. Generally the paint work isn't done the best so I was contemplating on removing all of the paint. However..the person selling them forwarded me another email after seeing what my plans were for the figures and it turns out they are hand painted..a great deal of energy was put into them apparently. Still waiting on them to arrive today! Sorry for the crappy shots, I was unable to save the image properly from the site.

Well mass painted or not. If you don't like the paint work just strip it and repaint them. That's my opinion. Especially when you can make Joker with his makeup pealing off Also you can find many diffrent large figures at www.theclubhouse1.net forum. If you would need any help just ask maybe I could help in any way. Cheers

I am thinking your scope was to strip them and repaint? Looks like a fantastic project to sit down with!! Enjoy!!

You got it right Todd....they are painted quite ok but missing that extra touch. I have been looking for some large figures to paint for quite a while, and they fit in nicely with my style of modelling! Creep and kooky!!lol Unfortunately for these two they will be getting bagged over the next day or so and gradually stripped of paint. I have no idea about the make or any other details but they are not fully made out of resin. Biskup passed the above forum onto me so I hope to learn more about this particular range of figures.
I knew you would like these guys Guy! It's a little throw back to the 90's when Batman was again made popular by two fantastic actors! These will be a WIP....so much stuff on the bench at the moment..on a flip side my GF finds the pinguin one quite scary....just waiting for the right moment to place it next to her in bed at night!! Lol

Ah, even more garage kits! AMAZING FIGURE MODELLER is the definite mag for big scale stuff, I have read it from the first issue way back in the 90ties, you will find it extraordinaire of cause! For those bigger stuff only an airbrush comes to mind, but I have painted those figres these days with a brush (did the Joker, the same figure, for a client way back). Check out the vinyl joker from HORIZON, it is the best joker in my eyes, a real comic figure and top detailed. I would love to have him in small scale (maybe a resculpt some time). And check out the elder works of DAVID FISHER. He is a real master with this kind of figures!
