Thank you both! We now have a Chaise Longue: Really good design and casting on this one. Some flash to cut off but otherwise flawless fits and very logical assembly.

Main construction finished, some sanding and puttying yet to go. The clear bits will also need their liquid contents painted in before they're closed up.

Clean and crisp build up! And hell, a garage kit done here, great! Universal monsters are always welcome, they are great and I would love to see some redesign of them (imagine a biomech Fankenstein Monster, YES!). The only thing I have complaints to make is the name plate inclueded in the kit, in my eyes too small and tiny. But this will not distract from the figures, they are excellent and I am so curious how you will paint them!!

Thanks TRM!
Thank you as well Kaytermarram! We love all the Universal Monsters here too, might do the Creature from the Black Lagoon next year, from the same company. We had some debate about the name plate, and in the end decided to paint the figures and set black and white but make the name bronze, which will bring it out a bit more.
The question right now is how to handle the clear glasses and tubes and such. We'll probably paint greys inside them to simulate black and white liquids, but the option for glow stuff and color is compelling too...

Maybe trying to paint fluids with transparent paints and MAYBE illuminate it! That would look really good but is a bit complicated. But heck, we want it that way! Doing the paint scheme black and white is a brilliant idea and will definitly look good!

Hey Ari, Looking good mate, the odd garage kit popping up on the forum is refreshing. This particular scene sculpted by Jeff Yagher is a beauty!! Glad to see you and the Mrs tackling this project further...these figures get easily over looked but they are so cool and other worldly!! I have a 1/16 Frankenstein ordered so there will be some added creepiness here shortly to the forum.

Frank- Thank you! I hope we can give you a fun paint extravaganza to watch soon Kiwibelg- Thank you as well! I have to ask though as the term "garage kit" is fairly new to me, does a styrene kit from a company count as garage? What I've read about garage kits suggests private small runs of resin figures. Admittedly I have no clue what the term really means or what it refers to, and have no clue how large a company Moebius is. But the sculpt on this thing is phenomenal, the faces really look like Karloff and Lanchester! If Moebius is in someone's garage, it's a garage of wonders! Regardless, I'm glad there are others who enjoy such kits, and I look forward to seeing your take on the monster!

Hi Ari, Garage Kits...well I'm new to the term too myself! Generally a garage kit is a figure made out of polyurethane that is independentlly made by somebody without the big financial backing that major players have. There are a lot of older kits like Polar Lights that are still out there and some people sell upgrade parts such as a different head to depict another character/actor. There is some quirky garage kit stuff on this place www.theclubhouse1.net/ !! I came across a video on youtube about a modeller who has one of the biggest collection of movie themed kits, in particular the creature from the black lagoon! Didn't bookmark it but I will try and find it again for you. Cheers mate

Guys, maybe check out David Fisher and Terry Webbs books about garage kits, like THE GARAGE KIT THAT ATE MY WALLET, RETURN OF THE GARAGE KIT THAT ATE MY WALLET. Do not know if they are still available. In them, Terry listed most of the kits which where available within the 90ties. You can get tons of different big scale garage kits (Shay, you nailed it with you explanation). I have collected hundrets of them way back, but sold them all because of their scale: too big for me. Sideshow did, before they became the big player they are now, a Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein Dio kit in Vinyl, which was the best I have ever done, a whole laboratory with Baron Frankenstein and the Creature coming out of a victorian ressurection tank. There were tons of Equipment, books and such stuff lying around, absolute mindblowing. And so are so many kits to drool for!
