Thanks Tobias! Glad to have you along. I just read a review on this kit and seams there are some fit and other minor issues.I'll be going back to the review as i build to fix them.

Dupes! I need a warm day to get a clear coat on the Stryker so i thought i would build up the workable tracks. After an hour of glueing 32 track pads on and 2 hours to let dry they won't click together and the pads were popping off .Looks like i'll be using the rubber band kit tracks instead.

That's the one thing about the 251 series I am NOT in love with - the indy tracks for all of these kits are extremely fiddly and hard to get a good strong bond on.

I'm really sorry to hear about your struggles with the indy links Leon. Years ago, when dupes hosted the 251 GB at... some other place.... I did the AFV club 251/4 with the LeFh 105. I recall the links were a PITA! I'm trying to remember what I ended up doing to make them work. I'll see if I can find any notes I left to myself and, if so, pass on any words of wisdom that I learned from my 'time of rage'...

Looking forward to this - my only experience of these is the old Tammy kit, one of he first kits not to use lazzy band tracks if I remember correctly. Shame about the AFV tracks. Could you use the Tammy tracks? Didn't look too bad if I remember right. You can probably pick the kit up for less than the Friuls.

Dierk! Glad to have you along. I think i'll try a to assemble the tracks first and then glue the pads on with a small drop of CA to see if that works.

That's not a bad idea...let me know if it works! I need to find a better way of assembling these things if I'm ever going to get all of my 251s (and 250s) built.

Evening guys! After 3 hours of gluing yesterday and a few choice words I managed to get 32 pads on the links.Tonight I got 27 links together and lost 5 to breakage.Had to glue a few links as they wouldn't click together.I'll use these for the bottom as I have a different plan of attack for the rest.I plan to assemble the links first and then glue the pads on.Fingers crossed this works and I won't have to use the kit tracks. BTW.... My thumbs are killing from holding the links and the guide horns pressing against my thumbs while assembling these. Thanks for looking,as always ACW.

Leon
I went back and looked at my 251 build. I think I ended up with the same process you did - links first, then pads.
Wish I had some better insight for you. Tracks look good so far.

Boyd thank you! Really appreciate you checking out your 251 and the info . In the pics above I glued the pads on first.I'll assemble the rest of the links first then glue the pads on.
