Just a moment, Sir, just a moment: You say you have laid down the basic colours? It looks shaded very smooth or it it the natural light?

Frank- Thanks bro! Spraying light gray on the top parts helped I think. Base coat was thinned enough so it bends well. Can't wait to start the highlighting it! Jeremy- Thanks my fav deaf partner! Biskup- Thanks buddy... thanks for stopping by! Am afraid there's no update... helped my youngest son on his costume for upcoming Comic Con event this weekend. He wants to be one of those cool Steam Punks... it was fun working with him using all of my tools at my bench. LOL Now I really need to finish the base for my StuG or it will not be done in time for the model show this Saturday. The pressure... loving it!

Nice seeing the base all but done Andy! The color looks fantastic!! I am hoping by the weekend to set some time aside to bang something out! Before you know it, we'll be getting detained by the authorities in Auburn my friend!! I only worry about that BJ character...seems a bit shady if you ask me!!

Biskup- My son is really looking forward to this! Will make sure I will post a pic of him in his outfit. He is only 13 years old! LOL mr T- No worries! Will give him full body frisking procedure just to make sure that you feel safe. LOL Hoping I will finish the base tonight. That will give me an extra day window to touch it up maybe add an abandoned Russian helmet to the ground. Marc- Damn it!!! I am busted! Glad you found me again... thanks partner!

The San Diego comic convention?? Hell, I would love to be there. Have fun and yep, a pic of your son in this costume would be quite cool! It is a long time that I wear costumes, muharr!

So many builds and projects competing for your attention Andy! That's what happens when you actually get answers to your proposals. Nice progress on your GI, very smooth paint work for sure.

Frank- I wish we are going to San Diego... the biggest one in the country! Nope, we are going to one right here in Indianapolis. Its still big deal... they are expecting 50k people or so. Carrie Fishers will be there of course not in her slave suit as she is far past that part. LOL OK DEAL! I will post pic of my son in his costume... we have been working on it for last two nights and we hope to finish it tomorrow. Jimmy- LOL! OK I will do my best... everything you have seen is pretty basic. Airbrushed base coat on the coat. The rest were hand painted. All paint is always thinned somewhat and I do in few layers. You can not just paint one thick coat or it will not look smooth. For example the backpack I painted about four or five times in thin layers until I was satisfied. Bill- No kidding... no more GBs for me for rest of the year I hope! LOL I caved in to Operation Barbarasso. Those guys can be so EVIL! Thanks... Vallejo and LifeColor are great for painting! Kiwi- Brushing all details as what you have seen so far. It helps if you can thin the paint too. I plan to do some airbrushing on the coat for highlighting and some work on the flesh too. Hopefully I can resume my work on the bust right after the model show on Saturday... stay posted my friend! Gary- Hey bro!!! Glad you are aboard too... brewing iced tea right now just for you!

Looks good Andy, I like the colors you picked to start from. I'd go for a warm, reddish brown (like burnt sienna) and add dark washes over it once dry. Man the Garand bayonet looks incredibly detailed !

Phew, milk and icetea, heck, are you men or boys? Harhar!! Get yourself some cold beer and "get the devil out with the belzebub" (it is a try of translation from some german wise words, I do no know if there is an english counterpart).
Speaking of painting: I had begun painting a 30mm figure ONLY with heavy diluted paints from Vallejo and LifeColor and that is a totally new feeling of painting. You have to go over the same area a lot of times, but you can work very very transparent and vary it as you like. I have to do that again on a military figure and see how it will work!

Guys- Thanks! So sorry for being slow... burnt too much midnight oil prior the show. Worked on my son's costume too. Here's the picture I promised to post... We made the hat from scratch using felt and stuff. Clothes were bought at Goodwill. LOL He is so creative for a 13 years old boy... Guy- That's great tip about the paint for the wood. Definitely will give it a shot. Glad you liked the bayonet. Still haven't done highlighting yet. LOL Frank- LOL White Russian drinks sound so good to me right now as I am fighting pain in all joints all over again after a very busy at the show yesterday. This forum has been very helpful I have learned from the masters and I am still learning! Deano- Thanks mate... you will like LifeColor too. It delivers very smooth finish and I also use their LifeColor thinner too. Gary- HAHAHA! You are tempting me...

Great costume. It's cool you got to work on it with him. Hopefully some day soon he decides he wants some help on a plastic Kit....as long as it's a wingy. Hope you had a good show. I know what you mean about being worn out. Took kids to the natural history museum today. Just downed a bottle of Aleve. Now off to my favorite chair for a nap.

Believe it or not I am staying home with the sick son but he is getting better. HIs temp is 100.1 now down from 103.9 yesterday. Scary times... maybe he couldn't handle seeing so many beautiful Steampunk ladies at the big show.

Yeah, you can´t start soon enough to get your blood boiling, hehe! But looks like he is in a good recovery and the real life (means being in school again) will start again. It is mucho better to get in the best possible shape before tackling new adventures!
