Andy Love the idea of a helmet collection How many have you got so far? The bust is looking really nice, although I think there needs to be more work done on the busts you've used to show of your helmets!! Andrew

Frank- Thanks buddy! Mixing ratio? Oh that was very easy! 50% medium flesh, 25% fat and 25% cholesterol. Now you have it the secret recipe! LOL Bruce- Nicolae- I don't blame you for forgetting... I have been so slow this time. Glad you liked the pics... thanks! Boyd- Because you mentioned 'smoke' the GI now has a cigarette! LOL Thanks man! Guy- HAHAHA! I am glad I made you laugh out loud... Leon- Thanks my fav wizardo! Andrew- Thanks! Nothing beats having the real thing in your man cave to use for reference. LOL I think I have 18 so far... my focus has been on US issued helmets for last 3 months and I only need two more. Then I will shift my focus back to all WWII helmets worn by all Allies and Axis. So far I have American, German (M42 only), British, Canadian, Belgian, French (missing a white flag), and Danish. I hope to get Russian and Italian next. I need to build helmet stands for them all one day!

It is about 95% complete. Little more highlighting on the overcoat then I will apply dark washes using oil paint tonight. So that way it will be completely dry for the show on Saturday... pretty close call I am afraid. I am torn between those two wood bases.. the square one or the Aspen tree stump? I googled and it shows that there are Aspen trees in Bastogne. They planed 4,000 Aspen trees to honor the fallen soldiers near the memorial. I can add dead grass and snow on top of the tree stump. Just a thought... Thanks for looking!

Looks good Andy ! I can't wait to see what you'll do with the base. You are one of my favorite Belgian friends so I want to know if there is really plenty of Aspen trees in Bastogne and the surrounding area?

Go with the Aspen stump, it adds character/relevance and is perfect for this guy! You'll get it done in time for the show I'm sure, get to it!

Me too, the square base looks fantastic. BUT: The white base fits a bit better because of the natural colour. Hm, good that the problem is yours, bro, harhar!

Very nice paintwork bud, a finish one can only be jealous of! In a good way of course About the trees in the Ardennes, originally most trees in the Ardennes were of the deciduous tree kind (I had to look that up in English lol). But because lots of trees were cut in the past, they were replaced by firs...So, during WWII and still nowadays most trees in the Ardennes region are firs. So I guess that Aspen tree stump would come close. However, I'm old fashioned, I prefer the square base ...go figure. But then again, no matter what stump you use, it'll look ace! Cheers

Tobias & Frank- I agree. I originally wanted to use Aspen tree stump but time ran out I got held up remodeling the bathroom the day before the show so I had to opt for the square one. Thanks guys! Jeremy- Thanks mate! It feels good to be back! Bruce- Thanks! Believe me it was good seeing you. Wish I was not held up at the registration and judging all day. I didn't even get to see all builds. I have spent no more than half hour in the vendors room. Maybe it is a good thing! LOL Wouter- That was very helpful! I was going to use the stump but time ran out. I spent hours working on the dry walls and went to set up for the model show as my local club was the host so I only had very little time to add the bust to the base the night before. Glad you liked my bust... LOL

And I hear you on the photography, white balance can be a pain in the bum Shooting in RAW and editing in something like PS might help, but still not easy LOL On to next great finished build! Cheers

Thanks Andy. It was great seeing you too. Guys, the pictures do not do this little guy justice. It is a stunning little pieces. Andy, it's probably a good thing for your wallet you didn't get to the vendor area,I spent too much, but got five kits to add to the "Inbox".

Wouter- Yeah sometimes it drives me crazy that my iPhone takes better pics but not 100%. Hopefully one day I will finally get it right. My photographer teacher has offered to come to my man cave and see how I take pics then she will figure out how to make it better. She mentioned about using my laptop to adjust the colors... that's something I want to learn next! LOL
Yep, you should see the BOS winner... one of the best work I have ever seen in a long time. I will post pictures of his Predator bust and it is in 1:1 scale! Always good hearing from you my friend... thanks!
Martslay- Thanks... welcome aboard again!
Leon- Thanks my favorite wizard!!! Its good to be back... now I need to finish that darn thing called Panzer II next. LOL
Bruce- LOL That's what my wife always say when I complain that I didn't have much time in the vendors room. It was not a problem for me last year because I went to 4 model shows. For this year I am afraid Roscoe Turner show is the only show I can attend. Maybe the big figures show in Chicago in the fall... I recall you have gone to that show. Nothing beats seeing the thing in person like your builds at the show. Always good seeing you!
Guy- Thanks buddy! I was so lucky I got the eyes the first time! Unlike my first bust it took me about ten attempts... I am just damn glad to take it off the queen shelves finally. Two more to go...

Steinman- Appreciate it... many thanks! That Predator is so scary... everybody couldn't keep eyes off it.
Bill- No kidding... thanks professor! It felt great to finish something that I started many moons ago. Time to shop around for my next victim... I don't hoard busts because they are not that cheap.

Thanks man!!! I might bring it to Danbury since it is a lot easier to carry a bust around than an armor on a diorama base!
