The neat thing about a scratch-build project like this is that you can work on whatever part you want to at any time vs. following instructions!

That's very true Bill. That's probably one of the reasons I seldom get anything done. I can get sidetracked easily at times.

Thanks guys. Andy, I am still planning on making it to Indy. I want to bring Matty with me, so you can see her in person.

Hello all, I am finally on the right track for Matty's nose. I still have a little bit of feathering the joint in, but not much. I also finally broke down and bought the RP Toolz punch and die sets. I'm starting to wonder how I built anything without them. I had to try the punches out, and before I knew it, the rear plate was pretty much finished. Thanks again for looking in.

For the type of projects you like to do Bruce, I'm sure that punch & die will be a lifesaver!

Nice!
You're using the punch and die to make the rivets, right?

Yes Ray. From what I have seen, the rivets on the Matildas were flat headed, so the punches should work out perfectly.

Hello everybody. Well, after a week or of staring at the nose, and a major facepalm after I figured out what I was wrong with the nose. It is definitely on the right track now. As always, thanks again for looking in.

Hello everybody, I haven't had a lot of bench time lately, so this is a small update. I got the weld seams added and a good start on the cutouts for the track tensioners. I did get a start on marking and cutting more of the superstructure. Hopefully, they will start going on in the next few days. Thanks again for looking in.

Thanks Andrew. I think once the nose is set, it should be "Game On" for the rest of the hull and superstructure.

Hello everybody, I am still puttering on the nose. I have the driver's visor pretty much shaped, so I had to see how it looked. While I was waiting for the glue to dry, I started messing around with the sprocket ring. I cheated big time getting the spacing. It's a 25 tooth sprocket, so I picked up 50 tooth spur gear from the store. A little while later, after a bit of drilling, and giving my compass cutter a bit of a workout: Finally, I got a start cutting the teeth: I still have a bit of filing on it, but it's heading in the right direction. Thanks again for looking in.
