Great job sir! I am impressed with the PE job on those fenders as well as the paint job. Very nice indeed.

Great Job, beautiful rust and chipping I prefer dust look, because mud covers to much detail sometimes.

You have no idea how glad I am that you are back with this build. I see that Tamiya Zimmerit set is working out every well for you too?
Super work on chipping and scratches by the way!

deafpanzer: When I started with the Tamiya zimmerit, I was not sure, whether it will look good or not. But finally I am satisfied with it. Ok, the edges are not as sharp as the self made zimmerit, but with this stickers I was much faster. Nice to see you again.

Back with another beauty. I concur with the prevailing opinions above, it'd be a shame to cover up what you've done with mud. Good to see ya back here

On a model that looks as good as this on does, you have just got to drill that machine gun barrel out.

Hi gents, time for another update of the beast. I added some more dirt under the fenders and some oil streaks, too. The wheels were covered with pigmants and got some oil streaks, too. I have searched for a long time, to find some good reference pictures of tank wheels/ tracks. Mig Jimenez built also an Elefant and he used some rust colors for the inner side of the tracks and the running surface of the wheels - so I tried this for my model. What do you think? 5DMKII_39200 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39205 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39208 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39209 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39213 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39215 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39220 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39222 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39230 by Mathias, auf Flickr

Looking really good Mathias. I think you've done an excellent job on this old girl! I remember the one built by Mig - it was in the Weathering Magazine. If I remember right it was either abandoned or knocked out when the Russian captured it - that's why the tracks and road wheels were rusty - it had been stood for a while. Don't get me wrong, I think you created an excellent rusty look, but if the Elefant is supposed to be operational the bits on the road wheels and tracks should look like polished steel . Hope you don't mind, but you did ask what we think.

dierk: Thanks for this advice. I was not sure, if it`s really an abandoned tank. So I will remove a bit of the rusty look.

Good evening, after the advice of dierk, I decided to reduce the rust effect inside the tracks a bit. Next step is the tank crew. I bought a kit from Zvezda. I never had a model or kit from this brand. But the quality of the minitures is quite good. 5DMKII_39690 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39691 by Mathias, auf Flickr I am not sure, whether the tank crews of the Elefants in Kursk 1943 were camo uniforms, but this one was designed for it. And I have to say, it makes much fun to paint this camo pattern. I use a mix of differnet types to give a bit of variety. I used the "Platanenmuster" of the Wehrmacht in autuum and spring type (1943). Here are the first steps... 5DMKII_39686 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39684 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39681 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39680 by Mathias, auf Flickr 5DMKII_39688 by Mathias, auf Flickr These last one will get the spring version of the Platanen camo.

Great job on this oldy, love your style. I only have some doubts on the cammo uniforms you are using. They are well painted, (I wish I could do that), but I think that pattern was Waffen SS only. See hereEddy

Nice work on the Elefant mate, looks very cool. And paintwork on the figs as well. Camouflage ain't easy but you nailed it! One thing though: Platanenmuster wasn't a Wehrmacht camouflage. Both Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS had their own camouflage designs, and the more common knows like the Platanenmuster and the pea dot pattern for instance where Waffen-SS. Splinter camouflage on the other hand was Wehrmacht. Crews of the Panzerjäger and artillery (like the StuG were considered) usually wore the panzer uniform, but in a fieldgrey color rather than the panzerblack. Edit: just noted that Eddy mentioned it earlier on Cheers
