Hi folks, here comes my next project - the Elefant. It`s an older kit from Italeri, but it looks great. I decided to use real pe parts, instead of brass sheets this time. I ordered a cheap version of Zimmerit, but I don`t know how good it is and how it will look on the tank. But I will give it a try. The tracks are from friul, my favourite tracks... 5DMKII_31885 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr 5DMKII_31886 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr

Good evening gents, it`s been awhile, since I started this thread. The last days, I started the built of the Elefant. I was too lazy, posting all the first steps... sorry But here are the first impressions of this beast. I have never build a tank with Zimmerit. For the first time I tried the sticker stuff from Tamiya. It was ok. There are some tiny areas, where I had some little problems to get this stuff on. But with the help of super glue I fixed it. I am not sure, whether the structure comes out good enough, when paint is on... we will see. Thanks Leon.
What do you use, to get a better adhesion from the color on the pe parts?

Yo Matt!! Great to see this beast come back to life!! 90% of the time, CA, but a scuffing with a sanding stick on both the metal and plastic helps. Also the real tiny ones get PVA sometimes...more time to work with the part and cleanup is a bit easier!

Good having you back. Am curious how the metal primer comes out so far? Nice pre-shading job!

Here comes the next update. I made the Kursk camo pattern and added the decals. I used the first time metal burnishing fluid to darken the tracks. Cool stuff. Ohne Titel by Mathias, auf Flickr Ohne Titel by Mathias, auf Flickr Ohne Titel by Mathias, auf Flickr

Thank you guys. I am not sure, which version looks better - Just a bit of dust or really heavy mud? What do you think?
Cheers Matt

I'm more of a fan of dust and a bit of dirt for a model by itself. If a base is used then I might go for the mud look.
Some good looking work there. I see the Tamiya zim shows up quite nicely.

Brilliant work!! I'd probably agree with Bob. But then everyone in a while a mud job can be a nice change.
