Speaking of that update...she's a big one!
Tackled the intake area. It's composed of several odd shaped bits that I thought had NO chance of going together. The result is really quite promising - a little bit of filler and this will definitely be in "acceptable" territory (most of the other bits are just dry fit here - don't worry about those gaps yet).
Moving forward to the nose. Another collection of odd-shaped (overly complex) pieces that are supposed to go together.
Unfortunately the fit here was not as good. Filler for sure, and I'll do my best not to obliterate a lot of detail that will be in very obvious places.
You can see the weird intermeshing join that has to happen - I'm a bit worried about that. Actually more than a bit. Can't do anything with it, though, until the cockpit is sealed in between the fuse halves, so that's where I'm headed next.
The cockpit - have had to make some decisions here. The Black Box resin seat WILL NOT FIT in here. I've already sanded a good portion of the lower detail off to squeeze it in, but it will take a lot more. This pit is tight - I have no idea how the guys who fly these pack themselves in there with a flight suit on. Looking at the kit-supplied instrument panels, I've decided to keep that stuff as well and save the Eduard set for my next E (I've got several - heh). This one will be a bit of a "test run" to see how much room I have to fiddle around without knocking all of the PE bits loose. Not a huge loss, as the kit parts are quite nice!
