Speaking of that update...she's a big one! Tackled the intake area. It's composed of several odd shaped bits that I thought had NO chance of going together. The result is really quite promising - a little bit of filler and this will definitely be in "acceptable" territory (most of the other bits are just dry fit here - don't worry about those gaps yet). Moving forward to the nose. Another collection of odd-shaped (overly complex) pieces that are supposed to go together. Unfortunately the fit here was not as good. Filler for sure, and I'll do my best not to obliterate a lot of detail that will be in very obvious places. You can see the weird intermeshing join that has to happen - I'm a bit worried about that. Actually more than a bit. Can't do anything with it, though, until the cockpit is sealed in between the fuse halves, so that's where I'm headed next. The cockpit - have had to make some decisions here. The Black Box resin seat WILL NOT FIT in here. I've already sanded a good portion of the lower detail off to squeeze it in, but it will take a lot more. This pit is tight - I have no idea how the guys who fly these pack themselves in there with a flight suit on. Looking at the kit-supplied instrument panels, I've decided to keep that stuff as well and save the Eduard set for my next E (I've got several - heh). This one will be a bit of a "test run" to see how much room I have to fiddle around without knocking all of the PE bits loose. Not a huge loss, as the kit parts are quite nice! Got to get some paint on there - that's next.

Looks like you're making good progress on this one Dupes. Sometimes you can only shake your head in wonder at the way certain kits and parts are designed to go together.

Great work so far dupes. I agree, that join looks... tricky.
I think you made the right call on the 'pit. Looks like the kit one is already pretty nice. Use this one to figure out the quirks, then do an aftermarket monster down the road with lessons learned.

Yeah...most of the issues I've heard center around that nose. But I've seen a few of these built up superbly, so it's possible to straighten out I assume.
Nothing wrong with the kit cockpit either. Rather good detail. Though that sucks about the seat. Resin bang seats are always a nice flair. I'd probably tackle mine with limited AM too...save the resin goodies for the Hasegawa maybe.
