Doug is really good people. He plays an online game of some sort that involves armor (no, not world of tanks) and was telling me how the Tiger 1 is his favorite tank. Since he's such a nice guy I decided to take an uncharacteristic swerve on the bench and begin this project which will be his when I'm done with it Every bit as much of a pain as the Cyberhobby kit I did a couple of years back but this time I remember all the mousetraps. Don't have to try four different kinds of zimmerit, either. It does have DS tracks tho, much to my pleasure. Perhaps an articulated suspension is in the future for this one Regards, Mark

Should be fun Mark! Be wary of those DS tracks, IIRC they usually have to be surgically altered to fit properly by removing a link or two depending.

Hell, another build thread to follow! Too much popcorn and beer I guess! Anyway, have a strong stomach and a Tiger is always a cool cat! So will watch with interest and hope, you will add a tank crew here!

Looks like a suitable home for your Tiger! Although you may want to check for gnomes, it looks like they've been doing graffiti while you were sleeping.

Well we had an accident...the model got knocked off the bench and probably is not repairable. It don't look over hopeful. Looks like a trip to the LHS for a replacement...

Can't wait to see MKII, I'm sure it'll be looking great too. Been hoping to score that exact Tiger on sale soon.
Cheers

I managed to save it The figure set which does not fit the vehicle as the box art depicts (I am SO surprised) The backup plan from the LHS No longer needed but I have been curious about this kit for years. Perhaps another cutaway? Regards, Mark

That Academy kit builds up nicely, I built that one several years back when it was 'new'. It's not 100% accurate with the interior but still provides a lot of nice eye-candy for the insides that is mostly correct. As for the figures, doesn't surprise me...you're using a Dragon figure set for a Tiger that was released before Dragon had a Tiger! I bet they fit on a Tamiya...or not...

I'd heard rumors as such Bill but good to hear this from a reliable source. Somehow I don't think that figure set would fit Tamiya either. I'll make them work anyway Coming close to the end Paint's still a bit garish I think A few more filters, a flatcoat, more rust tones on the spare track, some dust and dirt should finish this one off. I have not decided if I should paint the crew in panzer black or the dot camo scheme Regards, Mark

I like your Tiger, and I'm glad you were able to save it. I've got an Academy half built. It's fairly nice. I have heard the bit about the interior, but it adds some nice eye candy like Bill said....hmm...maybe I should finish that one lol

Tiger's looking good Mark! Would never know it had suffered any kind of mishap. Once the weathering starts in that camo scheme should tie together just right, it's got a nice pattern to it.

Thank you gents
In the trial flight the right sided running gear got pretty badly broken but it turned out to be an easier fix than I thought. DS tracks probably helped here I am not sure.
I decided to chicken out and do Panzer Black for uniform color; the thought of all those teeny dots on five figures was not a happy one. I'll have a real update soon if all goes well
Regards, Mark
