AMPS Nationals – Auburn, IN This year’s AMPS 2015 International Convention is just around the corner…in fact, just under a week away! AMPS(Armor Modeling and Preservation Society) is holding their annual event starting April 30 and running through to May 02, 2015 at the WW2 Victory Museum, Auburn IN. This year’s show is expected to be a great show again. The Show Committee has been hard at work towards making this show another in a long line of memorable shows, which always include the largest armor-only vendor room on the planet, interesting seminars conducted by notable speakers, the AMPS-judged competition and awards, and of course a weekend full of terrific camaraderie with your fellow armor modelers. Show ThemeThe 2015 Show Theme is “First in the Line”, guidance what qualifies has been provided by the AMPS Chief Judge as follows: Acrylicos Vallejo I am proud to let everyone know that Acrylicos Vallejo will be attending the show this year. Myself (Todd Michalak), Rob ‘Scratchmod’ Ferreira along with Alex Vallejo will be in attendance working the Vallejo booth at the show. Both Rob and I will be there answering any questions, providing product demonstrations, step by step instructions and troubleshooting all in a hands on approach. There is an added bonus with a special seminar on painting put on by Scratchmod himself. In the past year, we had the opportunity to attend a few shows on behalf of Vallejo. We have been able to meet with 1000’s of folks since then showing them what Vallejo has to offer, showing how all of the paints and accessories can be used as well as to help troubleshoot the various problems some folks may encounter. The hands on approach to the demos is where we sit one on one with people and not only show what can be done, we let you try it! So Stop by and say Hello! It would be great to see you! It's a pity I don't live in the States, looks like it would be well worth the price on admission just to get tutored from Alex, Rod and yourself there Todd. I dare say the AV Stand is going to be very popular at the convention and you guys will be very busy. Hope you guys take the time to enjoy it and all the best guys with the Show.
Are you entering any of your models ? if so good luck and look forward to seeing your snap shots.

I'll be glad when this is done and over so I can quit feeling bad about having to miss it! That's the spirit Bob! I've been lucky to make it to the one show in Atlanta but that's it...they are either too far away, wrong date, or some combination to conspire to keep me from going. So with that in mind, we demand pics and lots of them to compensate!

Bill - pics only add salt to the wound! Andy - 2 hours away? I wish (I'm more like 14). That close, you have no excuse not making at least one of the days.

Hi all
Well it was a long weekend and a long drive back home. The show was great, as always, and it was great to see all my friends and members from MSC.Todd and I were busy at the stand and didn't get a chance to go through the museum section and look at all the models entered, maybe next time. Congrats to all the members who entered and took home some gongs.

That might have been cool being there and hanging up with you guys and do paint or sculpting jobs at the bench! Do you plan to show any pics here (for us foreign guys who had no chance to be there)?

Hey fellas!!! Finally back in reality!! LOL! Like Rob had mentioned it was a LOOONG drive...LOL!!! About 15 hours total each way. Needed to be done due to the equipment we bring...but more than worth it! Not only to help out our good friends at Vallejo but for the best part...meeting friends...new and old!! While both Rob and I seemed to be too busy to actually make it out of the vendor room (not even to eat) we di have a tremendous experience as always! Being able sit with people and helping them with questions, techniques and what not at a show is an amazing thing. Almost like mini Seminars at the table...but more one on one! We are both getting back to speed on things and I still need to return a rental car as well as getting to some things "around the house"....LOL!! Pictures should be showing up soon! Both Rob and I have to rely on the many folks that came out to the show and get them to share them for us. They should be filtering in soon!! (when's the next show??? ) LOL!!!!

Wow, I was totally overwhelmed!!!! First off, I got to meet Andy( deafpanzer ) Rob, and Todd, awesome guys!!!!! This was my first military show, I usually hit the model car shows...that's my main area of models. I have always loved the military models, and have been getting into 'em quite heavy as of late. I have noticed something about the difference between the two. At this show in Auburn IN., everybody seemed to be very cool. The venders, the customers, the general public... all of 'em, very nice. I'm not saying anything bad about car shows, but I have been to a ton of them and came across rude and ignorant people at every show!? Which really sucks Anyway, I had a freekin blast at this show!!!!!! I'm gonna be hittin more of these types of shows! Me and my buddy Bruce( vlpbruce ) had a great time there! Cool museum too, coz they had some cool vehicles there! Cars too!!!!!!!!!! :-) Man, it was great seeing you at the show!!! Sorry you had to carry around Bruce's purchases all day... LOL

Guys I took lots of pictures using my iPhone... not the best quality but workable since some rooms lighting was poor. I'd be more than happy to post the pictures here later tonight or tomorrow. I had to work yesterday on Sunday right after the show. Every year the deaf school hosts biggest event for the deaf community and it draws an average of 1,500 people but yesterday it is easy to say we saw more than 2,500 people.
More to come... sorry for the delay!
Like always it was GREAT seeing friends at the show!

Yea, That's what I usually do for my Sign Meets,, Usually get hassled by TSA about all my paint brushes in my carry on but they finally let me on.. They just don't get that some of Lettering Brushes can run upwards to $60 or more and over the years I have acquired a few 100 or more and I am not letting them out of my site along with a few $1000 worth of gold leaf. I can just see me trying to smuggle a Leopold Rail Gun in my carry on..

LOL...Petty sure they would confiscate the Leopold!! I wish I could get the list of items down to just the airbrushes and hairy sticks to carry on a plane!! Seems there is too much "stuff" to bring along not to mention all the little bottles of liquid. The TSA would surely love me!!
I have to laugh...I brought a Zvesda kit with me on a business trip a while back...1/100. Took hose guys 20 minutes to figure out what it was on the X-ray. I still don't know what they just didn't open the suitcase!! LOL!!
