Hello Fellas!!! Going out on a huge limb here! Picked this up at the last show I went to. Normally these figure sets, know as garage kits, run about $100 USD and can be found for about 3 minutes on the net and then they get sold out. I have been thinking about making a larger than 1/35 figure for a while. After not seeing much that jumped out at me, not to mention the hefty price tags....she came along! $30 USD, resin kit from GTZ (yeah, I don't know either). The Kit: 1/8 Bakuretsu Hunter Choco (on the box). After assembly, she will be right around 20mm tall. Useless Knowledge: A little research tells me Bakuretsu (Burst Angel) Hunter is from a Japanese Manga (comic). This more or less falls under anime for it's styling and whatnot. Choco(ra), is just what you expect it would be...chocolate! Onto some pics.... Box art: Pieces (minus one actually! Somehow they forgot one curly little hair piece...no worries made one already ) : The obligatory closeup: (crappy too ) After some sanding: A little priming to help me see any flaws: Just as suspected, a few spots that will need attention: All in all, not too bad. I will fill and sand what needs to be done and hoot another coat of primer on her. In case you were wondering, I have some reference photos to work off to give me an idea of what will be done hopefully: Picture for discussion purposes only Thanks for stopping by and checking yet another something that landed on the bench!! Yeah I know Rob!!! What can I tell you, I caved But what did you expect...after quitting smoking last week, I need to keep myself busy )TBC.........

Good evening fellas (here anyway) Been out making some money on this fine Sunday!! Thanks for all the kind words guys!!! Rob - yeah....no will power....still smoke free from Sunday last week..(you know it means more money in the kit fund now) Sean, Ian & JT - Think that fact that this was a bit different than what I was seeing...I was drawn, plus I need to work on the fig skills!! Wouts - We'll see after this one! jackwagon - Glad to have you along. Been racking the old brain bucket trying to work in some rust!!! Camo is a stretch for me at least, not to mention on a fig?? LOL!!! I will be going with some nice Russian greens on the pantaloons I think. I see it as a military piece...different, but military!! Glad you like it Boots!! Hope to have a little more later tonight!! Chris & G - Base skin is on fellas. I was thinking Of some shading hear and there with the AB. But I need the oil experience when it come to the figs. So yes, I guess! And then again no Thanks again!! Supper Then BACK TO WORK!!! (Doing some finals on the kitty too)

Dabbled a bit more tonight.... Broke out the AB and sprayed 3 subtle coats of Tamiya Flesh cut with my base mix 50/50 and then thinned the whole thing down. Each coat was increasingly lighter. Lastly, I popped a little white in the eyes for now and then made up a nice wash. This time with my oils using flesh and a spot of crimson red, I gave her a little pin wash and adding some wash to highlighted areas. Got a first coat down on the boots and hat as well...don't mind the over spray! With any luck I will be working on the eyes over the next couple days here and there. Then I can start on blending some more skin tones. Thank you for checking in on me!!

Thanks Paul & Rob! Paul - She's 1/8 ..guess that would make a nice Amazon Girlfriend for the Black Prince! There is a lot of skin, I have my work cut out for me! What I need to do is find your post on making the "metal" look using oils! It would make a nice SBS (hint, hint ) I was actually thinking I was going to have a go at it for the arm band at least! Let me know if you have a link to that! Thanks again!

Paul - That would be excellent, if you wouldn't mind! PM or right here. Thank you! You are the best My humble update... Ran a first blending of oil tones last night to begin to bring up some highlights and it softened the pinkish mid-base coloring. There are 2 lights facing straight into her on these shots, so any shading that you see is a results of the oil blending. I also began the early stages of the eyes...decided to try brown to start with, might even add some greenish coloring to what is there. If it ends up looking funny..lol....I change em!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Hi T
Base coat, then a coat of enamel gold, let that dry for at least 2 days. then a coat of burnt umber ( oils ) use it straight from the tube and then gently wipe it of with a soft cloth and leave to dry.
then add a thinned coat of burnt umber and while its still wet use a thin brush and put random dots of gold, copper, bronze and silver, the idea is to have the paint fairly thinned out so that each colour leaches into the burnt umber. its looks a bit of a mess until its dry but give it plenty of time to dry throughly, i then added some scratches with straight silver and a very fine brush Finally a couple of coats of thinned gloss varnish
Hope thats what you need
Paul

Thank again guys!! Chris - I will find out tonight, about the green. I did plan on catching the light, just deciding how, more in the "which way" fashion. Small dots, anime dots, a few to choose from. I suppose finishing up the green I can Klear coat that way I can remove what I don't like easier!! Thank you kindly Rob & Boots!! I think all these figure painters around here might be paying off!! Paul....Thank you!!! You are the man! I will have a go soon on that!! I need not tell you that a small SBS on this would go really nicely in the Paint and weathering section!! (Hint, Hint) Thank you again Sir! ;D
