This is a commission build so I'm limited to the customer's wants. In this case he spotted a print of Georg Diers King Tiger during the battle of Berlin and wanted the tank replicated. Here's the end stage of the basic hull construction. The turret is OOB, except the late style MG mount, so I didn't bother showing it here. Here's the hull front. I added the light wire conduit and weld lines on the periscope covers. I also added scribe lines to the edges of the interlocking hull plates. This is the right side showing the various tool and cable mounts that were scratched up. I also added the fuel vent lines. ... and did the same for the left side, too. This pic shows the various PE engine screens that were added. I also scratched up a locking clip for the main engine hatch and added the bolt heads on the intake screens. The final pic shows the mounts for the jack plate and tow clips. The locking bolts for the jack were added to the mount. ....more to come

Thanks for the comments everyone. Much appreciated. While I would normally ask for any constructive observations, in this particular case, I'm actually further along than what's pictured. I just decided to post it in stages to prevent sensory (and picture) overload. One thing I did forget to mention was that I also drilled out the bolt holes where the fenders would have mounted.

Again, thanks for the comments, guys. Alright, on to round two, paint. The model was first primed with Model Master primer grey (no pics as we all know what it looks like). After that cured out, I free handed the basic 3 tone camo pattern. I used the supplied picture for the front and right side, but had to extrapolate the pattern on the rest of the vehicle. Here's what it ended up looking like. Note, in these pics, you can see the late war single post MG mount added to the copula and the holes drilled out in the spare link locking tabs. After that dried I went in and added the dots for the "ambush" scheme. About a third of the way through the red dots it hit me that I was making them too small and should be spacing them a bit further apart. I debated about repainting the areas I had already done. Upon realizing that I didn't have enough yellow left to do that, I decided to press on. When it came time to do the yellow dots I took care in correcting the "mistake". Overall, I think it works all right. This is where the tank currently sits. After giving it some time to cure out I'll give it a coat of Future and start the weathering.

I love how the camo turned out. Could you perhaps describe your method for doing the free hand 3 tone camo bit?
Id love to give it a go sometime, but have no idea how id do it.

More thanks, guys!
Ken, freehanding the camo is nothing special. Thinned paint and low air pressure are key. I cut my paints to a 50/50 solution with thinner and shoot at 8 to 10lbs pressure holding the brush about an inch off the plastic. You want to keep overspray down as much as possible. Some is okay, and expected, as you would get some in a real life situation.
