picked up the new Revell FW190f8 yesterday. WOW!! And wow again!! Makes my three Hasegawa kits look like clunkers. Looking the kit over as close as my eyes will allow I may have found one flaw, and I'm not positive about that either. Told my dealer to get me three more kits ($27). I'm not completely positive, but think all the pieces are there to build a G8 out of the box (maybe guns will be an issue). Also the decals are barely OK in my book. gary

I'm not enough of a FW expert to know what else you can make out of the box, but some of my club guys tell me that with minor alterations you can indeed cover some other variants. Same boat - wow! For not much more than a 20 spot, Revell has put together a really great looking kit. Lack of swastikas will have to be addressed, but that's what you put up with from RoG. Now to see if it fits together.

Now to see if it fits together. well I did some searching awhile ago. ad found more than one F8 with a 12 bladed fan, yet every one says 14 blades. Then I check the one restored plane in Washington DC, and it's a 12 blade fan. Maybe an early & late thing. Now I have a 1/32 Hasegawa A5 or an A6 (the one that comes with a BMW car). Was thinking that just maybe a guy could turn out an early mark (F2 or G2)from the left over parts. Also everything to build an F9 in the box. I see these kits going a very long way. This kit should have been done five years ago, and I put it right up there with their 1/72 JU88. gary

well I read D. Bellis report on LSP a few days back, and this set my heard in motion. I studied no less than four different books till I got bug eyed. Found more F8's with 12 blade fans than 14 blade ones! So much for that comment. The cover on the side he spoke of missing a seam can be either way, and most were one piece. But I did find one with two seams! But I think it's shape is wrong remembering his posted photos. It's an asymmetrical shape. The landing gear looks right except that it's molded in a free and un loaded condition (too long). The external fuel tank is right, but could also be made without the extra front weld seam. The small fins everybody went nuts over are correct for the F8. Not sure about the other marks. Decals are somewhat of a disappointment to me. OK, but show me nothing I'd want.
I ordered three more kits as it's that good. I'm going to try and piece together a G8, or a G3 with a Hasegawa donor kit. I think an F9 is pretty much a go with a 14 blade fan (not sure if F8 props are right, and the kit ones are not right). They made 1100 F9's, and suspect many were rebuilds.
