Started this 2 days ago. Not a ton of progress so far, but hope to have some interior photos up soon. Immediate impressions, nice for the price, but but I would have paid a couple extra bucks to have the parts on the sprue listed sequentially. Only my 3rd wingy since coming back and I think it'll be the most challenging. Aircraft are definitely a little intimidating so wish me luck. Thanks for looking. Cheers #57

I was hoping to do mine for the Barracuda build off. I've got a bunch of their resin for mine too. It's a nice kit. Some wonky engineering decisions but a great buildup.
Their decision to randomly number sprues is annoying to say the least.
Looking forward to this build.

Looks like a great project Jeff. 1/32 should provide a good platform for some really cool detailing practice.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll try to keep in interesting. @jimmy- I had the same plan with the Barracuda build off, but decided against it. Decided I'd stay happier and more motivated if this one was entirely just a fun learning project. I was working on the newer Spit MKIIA a while back that I wanted to build for a local contest. Got a bunch of aftermarket, took the project way too serious then got sick of it and opened a armour kit. Worried if I got in with the barracuda build I might have a repeat of the Spitfire situation. A few cockpit-kabobs. Camera phone, bad lighting and RLM 66 over black. I probably could have gotten you guys a clearer picture on a etch a sketch. But I wanted to show you that I'm making progress. Hopefully I'll get some detail painting down tomorrow and snap some better pics. Thanks for looking, better stuff coming soon I hope. #57

I can relate to that I've been there plenty of times. I've learned to not start a build that I'm not excited about at the moment and my mood was changing when that build kicked off. Oh well. I have a lot of stuff accumulated for when I'm in 109 mood again. I was wondering about the Spit though. it's a hobby though. If it becomes overwhelming or work no shame to move to something else.

Hi guys. First bit of detail painting down. I get now why people say not to go crazy detailing a 109 cockpit. Between the dark grey and claustrophobic size of the thing no one is going to see much of your work any ways. I'll take it a little further though just for the practice. That ju-88 I have in the stash will thank me later. Thanks for looking. #57

I always feel a little sorry for the 109 pilots that had to shoehorn themselves into those cockpits...not exactly an abundance of room anywhere in there! Looking good so far Jeff.

The control stick is quickboost, but otherwise its OOB except 3 lead wires and tamiya tape rudder straps. I probably could have used the kit stick, but that quickboost is really nice for the price.
Thanks for the comments.

That's all kit parts? Even more excited to get to mine now! Can confirm. The kit cockpit is pretty dang nice straight out of the box. That quickboost stick is a nice little addition. Will have to keep that in mind when I get to mine.

Just a little teaser update. I figured you guys didn't want to see a bunch of photos of minimally changed parts, but you probably want to see some progress. I have a little more detail work I want to do before I hit it with a flat coat. After that I should finally put the cellphone away and break out the good camera. Thanks for looking. #57

HGW Belts + 90 minutes = severe eye strain. To top it off a small dab of super glue dripped during the install which led to some sanding and a quick visit to the spray booth tomorrow to repair. No photos tonight, but soon.
Hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

Those HGW belts are a blessing and a curse. The look can't be beat but they are work. 1/32 doesn't seem so bad after dealing with 1/48 though.

@jimmy - I think I struggled with the belts because I can't thread a needle to save my life. My only other experience with AM belts was a RB set, which I think I preferred. I may look into Finemold injected ones in the future because I've seen some really nice builds with those. Hi guys. Work and a busy toddler has kept me away from the bench for a bit but finally got the interior wrapped up. If you're thinking of this build yourself, maybe look into some airscale IP decals. The kit ones were a bit of a fight and oversized. Goodbye forever interior. I don't think much is going to be visible on the finished project. I tried to lighten up the grey a little to compensate for the shadows once it's boxed in, but I don't think it's going to make much of a difference. Oh well, it was good practice I needed since the JU-88 in my stash has a great greenhouse. Leaving the gunsight till later because I know I'll knock it off during the cockpit masking. Hopefully I can pick up a little steam on this project in the coming week. Thanks for looking #57.

Man that is a nice looking cockpit. And you can see in there pretty well...if you're trying to...so don't worry about that The Ju-88 does have a great greenhouse...you can see in it fairly well, but again its RLM 66 so it's dark too.

Thanks for the compliments and encouragement. Next up is figuring out this mess. Got this Barracudacast set a couple months back during their free shipping promotion. barracudacals.com/proddetail.php?prod=BR32155Much nicer then the solid kit piece. But cutting off that intake scoop that sits right on a curve has got me a little nervous. I know it's probably a pretty simple solution but how would you guys attack the problem? Thanks for your advice. #57
