Well that concern was sort of unfounded. Barracuda cast stuff has been a breeze to work with. Big improvement over the stock piece, just a little clean up yet to do. Engine cowl panels might be a bit of a fight because they look a little gap happy. Hopefully glue, clamps, tape, beer and swearing will fix the situation. #57

Nice work on the cockpit, Jeff. Resin additions are a vast improvement, too.

From everything I've read from other people's reviews on the kit the cowl panels are either drop in fit or a bit finicky. I got finicky if you're polite, Mf'er if you're not. The top cowl piece had a .5mm step where it joined on each of the engine side cowlings. Clamps, glue, beer and sanding got it to look half presentable. I'll need some filler and re-scribing a panel line but its a start. Building aircraft is new and I'm enjoying it, but it makes me miss armour. Not being able to slap mud or stowage on a mistake is a pain. Cheers #57

"Not being able to slap mud or stowage on a mistake is a pain." Not that I make mistakes (and the Earth is flat rofl-roll ) but a good reason for me not to build wingies. Looks like you're doing a good job beating it into submission.

Looks like your beer-to-styrene ratio is increasing on this one Jeff! Keep at it...just remember to keep the beer stocks separate from all the other components on your workbench.

Looking good Jeff. Understand being homesick for the armor add-ons. But think of it this way, drop tanks, rockets, or bombs are stowage and it's not unusual to find some degree of mud slung up onto the gear doors, wheels, wheel wells, and aft belly fuselage, especially on these tail draggers. Gives you something go look forward to. Eastern front and pacific airfields often became quagmires during rainy seasons. Dirty it up!

Not a lot of progress, been swamped here lately. The joys of owning a small business. She's got her warts on at least. The beules are from quickboost which I snagged on eBay for a couple bucks. They're nice, but I might go with the barracuda set if I build another. Hoping to paint the wheel bays and wing interiors tomorrow or friday so I can get it together for putty, sanding, priming and the good stuff. Thanks for looking and sorry for the crappy pics. Cheers #57

One of the rare times when you can say the warts look good!

Being as the subject matter is the bf109g6; I have a question! I have three or four of these kits stashed away, and plan on doing Gunther Rall's aircraft as well as Helmut Lipfert's. I can find decals for Rall's aircraft easily, but Lipfert's is another story. Have heard that CAM did them at one time, but can't even find a source for CAM decals in the USA.
any suggestions? gary
