I am starting my Takom MKIV tadpole kit soon. and the colour chart calls for MIG ammo 074 Green Moss.does anyone know of a Vallejo or tamiya match to the green used on WWI British armour?
none of the local shops sells ammo and all of them sell Vallejo and Tamiya.
cheers Dylan

Nice kit choice! I think there is some contention about the colour call out on the Tadpole kit. The Tadpole never went past the development stage and would have most likely been painted standard British "Neutral Brown". There is a British MKIV with it's original paint in the Belgian Royal Military Museum. It gives a pretty good idea of the colour. I think it looks better in green, but the brown makes sense considering the mud. Royal Military MuseumAs for paint shade for the brown I'd just get it close and weather the heck out of it, even in testing it doesn't look like they could stay clean. Imperial War MuseumCan't wait to see your finished work. Cheers #57

thanks Jeff. some really good info there. Tamiya Khaki is a pretty good match to the brown. although I like the look of the green. I might mix a bit of olive green in with the Khaki and spray it that way.
and of course it will be fairly muddy. the track is basically a conveyor belt for mud.

I agree with you. When I eventually get around to building a MKIV I'm probably going to paint it a shade of green myself. It just looks better.
