Ok, folks. Figured it was time to share some pics for those interested. When we go home from Hawaii I had close to 5000 pictures to deal with, so there was a delay with these. We did the whole shebang: Arizona Memorial, Bowfin submarine, Missouri, and the new(ish) Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island. So the slideshow here has a few of the pics I've uploaded. s1349.photobucket.com/user/Shark_Tank_Plastic_Works/slideshow/Pearl%20HarborSome of the more interesting stuff for those who don't want to view the whole thing: Memorial (I didn't take pics from on it). Big MO: My son shooting down a tour chopper: Surrender doc: And finally I'll leave you with something that really moved me. Out at the hanger on Ford Island this is the original glass with bullet holes from the attack still intact. Almost 75 years later and you get this eerie beautiful streams of light through these holes into the hanger.

Definitely a 'must-see' if you get the opportunity. I've been out there twice, once on a 24 hr layover for work and again on vacation with my wife. She wasn't able to get out to the Arizona memorial, but we did see all the other sites together. I've been to the Arizona myself and it's got to be the most moving thing you can imagine. Especially on a clear-water day...looking down and seeing the resting hulk just a few feet below you and all the names on that white wall are very moving.

It was a fairly breezy day but you could see the ship fairly well. The oil bubbling up...almost 75 years later is just unbelievable too. It was a great experience. I'm glad we got to do it. The plan is to do it again in 5 years, so maybe the kids will be able to appreciate it a little more. Chasing them around made it hard to take as many pictures as I would have liked.

Really nice collection of pictures there!
I was amazed at the amount of brass and copper showing in the sub photos. That doesn't look like any of the "Hollywood" submarines you see in the movies.

Well that's true about most 'Hollywood' approaches Bob! Brass was used quite a bit on submarines, especially for fittings, because of its ability to resist corrosion and pressure vs. the ordinary cast iron or steel fittings available at the time.

Oh, I knew a lot of brass was used on ships for the anti-corrosive properties. Just figured most of it was painted over instead of being left raw.
