Thanks for the comments dicky and Spud. Here is a little interior mock up. I tried to make the unusual wood grain as seen in my reference photo. Still have to give it a wash. I should do something to make the seats contast the floor a bit too. Still LOTS to do in there. Also can be seen the blue body paint. I used the salt technique in a few places but I find it doesn't work as well with laquor as it does acrylic. No worries, I can work with that . The passenger side fender will be a different colour. And I'm thinking of doing something to the wood part of the body that some of you make krinkle your lip at. I was thinking of painting the wood up and then painting over it and using HS to chip the paint away. Not sure yet, but I can see someone doing this. All I know is that the wood can't be all clean and purdy. Won't go with the rust.

I think these are some very cool looking cars. The build is looking equally as cool as the real deal. just need some Beach Boys tunes and a surf board.....

Thanks for the comments guys. I was thinking originally that this car is set in the early to mid 60's. The car would be over 20 years old. I think worn grey wood on the side would be a bit extreme for this time period. Definately worn tho, like Dicky said, kinda flat dirty and whatnot. This is the interior getting done. Just working on mucking up the floor a little. I used Future on the sides then added some pin washes and of course painted the bits. Here is the fender painted with some colour I had mixed up for sumpin else. Rims are painted. Of course still LOTS to do. Roof needs to be painted black. And the weathering on the body has only been started. Oh, and I do have asurf board for this by the way.

Getting some things done here. After weathering the floor I think the interior is almost ready to button up. The engine is in and the inner fenders in place. I also finished rusting the chassis. Didn't go too crazy but I think it will do the trick. Thanks for stopping buy.

Thanks Chris. I was just looking at your handy wood work. The reference pic I used for this showed an unusual wood grain. Don't know what kind of wood it was but it called for a little different approach.

Thank you muchly kind sir. A couple of photos of the body pre weathered. You may not be able to see, but the wood inserts actually have a textured grain to them like real wood. I'm not going to do much more to the wood panels other than weather them. On 1:1 photos, I've noticed some reveal an obvious wood grain while others are barely noticeable. I get the idea that when the cars are restored, the wood grain becomes more pronounced. And I'm running out of time.

Ya this is for the Big Spring Contest on SMA. I decided I'd go ahead and add a few light bits of grain. Not a 100% sure how I want to handle this wood business on the exterior. Have to handle it differently than the inside. I have a rough idea. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the great comments guys. I realise you are just as discerning as I am. Therefore your comments are meaningful and make all the effort worthwhile. As stated above I decided to go ahead and add a little grain to the wood. Then I went back in and weathered the wood giving it the appearance of some built up grime and whatnot. I'm pleased with the way it turned out although you can't really see the "grime" in these photos for some reason. Still have to go at that sheet metal yet. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Dicky, maybe a forth coming photo will show the grime better.
Bodge, those battery cable ends were scratched. And I even drilled a hole in them to slip over the terminals. I find the PE ones I've seen are just too thin. The cables are plug wires which look about right to me.

Great finish, Matt! Very well-done. I know what you mean about the pleasure during the build/relief you feel when you complete a project. I think you hit it spot on: it's all about the next project and the next challenge. Really cool;). So, what's next for you?
