Start with a nice filter, then work some pin washes and panel shading randomly around the tank. Adding dust, mud or otherwise?

That's some great work so far Dupea. Are the modulation sers worth the price of entry or can you get away with mixing your own? I recently used one of Mig' dust weathering sets and found it quite good after being a cheap arse for so long.
Cheers,
Brett

Brett, I would have to say yes on the price of entry. You can buy the bottles individually no matter the brand or set, but in terms of like what you did by picking up the weathering set, Give it a shot! Everything is set out for you in one box! The beauty is you don't even need to follow the instructed use if you don't want to. I have some sets when a combination of a only a couple of the colors is enough to get the job done how I like it. But you have the others if and when you needed it....one-stop shopping!

Are the modulation sers worth the price of entry or can you get away with mixing your own? Brett - totally missed this on my last Sherman update. I'd say that they are indeed worth it - for someone like me who's colorblind, they're darn near priceless! I wouldn't be able to mix these up in progressive shades like this even now that I have them to compare to. Oh yeah...need to get a pic of the M4A2 up (been plugging away quite faithfully). Let me see what I can snag tonight.

Bit of an update - nearing the finish line with the Sherman. Working on finishing up the tools and tracks and continued weathering. Current status:

Got a pretty neat kit today: Hasegawas old kit of MiG 29 "Luftwaffe". It features several markings:
>Bundesluftwaffe (Germany) >GDR >Yugoslavia >India
The last two were the ones that attracded me. Maybe Im gonnea throw it in here. Cant promise so far.

Nice job Dupes! Congrats on getting this to the finish line! You do know, there is no rushing in modelling....right? Are you making it down to BayCon this year?

T - if you saw my stash, your understand the rush! Until human life expectancy jumps up another 30 or 40 years or so I need to keep the pace up. Baycon - working that out. I'm about 75% currently...need to narrow down any travel companions from my club as well as lodging arrangements the night before.

Hmmm, a far better modeler than me (plane rivet counter) told me that MiG is 3cm too short. In 72 scale!!!!

3cm? That's a pretty substantial difference for an aircraft that only builds up to only about 18cm in 1/72!

Sad, but true. I can only guess whats the cause - maybe the fact that this kit is a very old one and references were quite rare these days (?).
