Now then, start date for the Under New Management GB is creeping ever closer, so it's time for da rulz:
Start date 08.01.2015 for those in the US, 01.08.2015 for everybody else, no end date.
Any scale, material, era, provided it's of a subject used by a different country than the one it originated in.
Preferably an unstarted kit, but if you have a shelf-queen that fits and this GB is giving you the inspiration to get it finished, go for it.
As this is MSC, and not some other forum I won't mention, the first photo of your thread is not required to show a date - as a matter of fact, you'll get barred if it does! LOL
If you're not sure if your planned project fits the bill, the answer is 'yes'...probably.
Most importantly: HAVE FUN!BannerIf you would like to place a banner into your signature, simply copy the URL in the code box below and paste into the signature editing box in your profile. For a smaller, more manageable version of the banner, please follow the instructions above using the code for this banner: Group Build Supported By:Petr is kind enough to offer 10% discount to members ordering stuff for this GB from him.Use the code AKTION2015 to get the stuff for this build reduced by 10% at my shop! Awesome Dierk!! Looking forward to this one! Folks, I added a banner to the mix. Feel free to add it to your signature if you like. If there is need for a smaller one, one can be added. Have fun everyone!

I'm waiting for my GB entry to arrive - something weird and unusual. But as it's open-ended I've got a few others from my stash lined up too, both trophy tanks and Lend/Lease.

Just wondering mate , can it include the use of another countries chassis to make a different vehicle . Kinda like refitting?

Just wondering mate , can it include the use of another countries chassis to make a different vehicle . Kinda like refitting? I don't see why not. Let me quote the rules: 'If you're not sure if your planned project fits the bill, the answer is 'yes'' And just so the 'car guys' don't feel left out: how about converting a left hand steering car to a right hand version? Or a European spec motor to US spec?

Sounds like an excellent idea chaos. As this is an open-ended GB there's no rush, but I hope you get your parcel soon anyway.

Okie dokie - trying to be a disciplined modeler, so I decided to pull a build off of the shelf instead of cracking into a new one for this GB. Doing the Academy M4A2 in Soviet markings. Only lightly started...bogies are done as well as some of the upper and lower hulls. Here's where she was as of last night: Hoping to get this restarted for real tonight.

Sweet! What markings are you going to give it?

Unless there are some aftermarket decals out there for the M4A2 in Soviet service that I'm unaware of, it'll be the kit markings.

Update time - construction is complete (the bogie subassemblies will remain unattached until I get the wheels painted). Time to start firing some paint at this guy! Anyone know what color Soviet M4s were painted? The instructions say OD, but I'm taking that with a grain of salt. Did they get repainted "Russian Green"?

As far as I know (and that isn't very far...) all Lend/Lease vehicles initially kept their original colours, but some got a coat of 4BO at a later date, during maintenance, etc.

Skipped a couple of steps worth of pics as far as the color modulation and decaling go, but here's where I'm at currently: AK Interactive's OD Mod set and the kit markings. Only four decals total, so that part didn't take too long despite the fact that the two turret triangles were very large (larger than the flat sides of the turret!) and took a bit of coaxing to get them to sit down. End result is good as far as I can tell - although the dreaded silvering tends not to show up until the flat coat gets applied. Currently everything has got a coat of future to help with washes etc. Working on painting up the wheels so I can attach the bogie subassemblies. More soon!
