Had this laying around for awhile with no plans for it so I decided to give the abandoned look a try 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Not sure it's there yet. Opinions? Regards, Mark

Nothing better than taking a swing at things with something old "just lying around"! Thinking you did a fine job so far Mark! If this is simply of test bed my friend...then Grip-n-Rip! Try introducing some different colored pigments stippled into the chipped areas...you can feather some light applications of medium and bright rusting where streaks would go and pooling of water...washes of all kinds...just keep playing and have fun! Old Russian armor is the best to play around with!

It looks so sad and abandoned Mark...like it needs a hug.

Thanks gents Since I now am able to type with both hands I figured it'd be a good time to dust this off and mess it up some more. I added the running gear sans tracks for now and tried to get some contrast in the rust patches 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr I am unwilling to apply bright rust to the model since I am trying to depict something that's been sitting for awhile so darker will be the theme. I know the roadwheels need more attention. The plan is to glosscoat, apply raw umber filter(s) and a pinwash. As always, observations and opinions negative or positive will be treasured Regards, Mark

Looking good - definitely moving in the right direction IMO. Maybe give the rubber tyres a going over? They look a bit factory fresh, unlike the rest of the 'T'. If you'd mentioned in the title that a T-34 is involved, I'd have got myself a front-row seat - now it's standing room only and I've got to wait for someone to answer the call of nature, so I can nick their seat

Thanks everyone
Dierk no worries there's room for all who are interested. You're right about the tires; will get a bit more grey on them

The rusted areas look pretty good, though it's hard to see fine variance's in the pics. That said, I think a little more of the dark brown color might be warranted in some areas. You have a really nice effect going on the top of the right fuel tank. Maybe spread that around a bit?
All that's just personal opinion, though. However, one thing I know you could work on are the exhaust pipes. To begin with, they really need to be thinned out. On top of that, they probably would have already been bare metal, or partially rusted, when the tank was abandoned, meaning their rust progression would be well ahead of the rest of the vehicle. Depending on the time frame, you may even think about jagging up the ends where they are starting to rust away completely. ... Just musing .....
