Astonishing to think that's it's just an old tugboat hull under all that.

Yeah, I have to search the original parts myself... But it was a good decision: besides the marine details, the original one-piece hull is very stable and has a big hole on the top - this comes in handy while painting. This is how it looks like atm. The sponge pattern is just for more variation, it is not the final weathering. So let's start chipping ...

Coming along nicely Jochen. It's funny how we often have to 'work in reverse' in terms of thinking how the end will look vs. how it looks in the individual stages. I'd say yours is progressing right on track for what you're aiming to produce.

The flash rust spots are acrylic paint, thinned and applied with sponge. Also the white stonewash-effect. The streaks are wood stain "oak medium". The semi-transparent character lets thin layers appear yellowish, and thick layers dark brown. Best seen on a white surface: Additional washes are a mix of wood stain with drops of acrylic paints (ochre, oxide red, burnt umber, black). Some final filterings with the initial greens are also applied. It's a cheap but effective weathering set

Thanks, I really have not much experience in rust weathering, so its great to read I'm on the right way. I decided to add a stern crane. Detailing never ends...

Obviously too late at this point to be turned into a kit master, but you should show this to Michael at Industria Mechanika anyway - I'm sure he'd love it! He's got several of McQue's other designs in his stable of kits.

Filling the windows with Micro Kristal Klear. Some mounts for the front winglets. Mounted. As well as the downward front antennas (left in the picture) Leon, you like cables? There's more to come...
