Those garage and tools sets look really cool. Close enough to 1/20 that it might work out well in a Maschinen Krieger-style maintenance dio. Hmmmmmmm...

Bit the bullet and got this for my PE-2 wingy: Weirdly, cheaper to order from the UK than Germany Looks like I'll have to build more soviet wingies now

If you want to impress a girl, fly a P-51. If you want to come home safely, take a P-47 instead!"

Got up late today, and found a box on my front porch. Let out a big grin, and laid it on the sofa. Just opened it to see a gazillion peanuts and a brand mew AMK MIG31 (upgraded kit). Checked the kit out, but left everything in the bags. There were three card board boxes inside holding weapons, and the main fuselage. Landing gear was in a separate plastic container. There appears to be two separate sets of canopies (didn't look at them to see the difference). A very large decal sheet, and a small fret of photo etch. Instruction booklet was very well done.
I was taken back by the size of the air frame. It's at least as big as a 1/32 single engine WWII fighter and not all that much smaller than the HK DO335. I was able to put all the parts back in the box on the first try, unlike RFM Tigers and their Abrams kits! gary

Walter J. Spielberger is one of the best authors about tank books, if you have the chance to get some, I really can recommend them (watch out for "Motorbuch Verlag").

Attended model show in Dayton, Ohio today. I picked these 2 up and they were filled with all the goodies. The guy wasn't going to build them so he wanted to get rid of them. I got them for $20 bucks each. P.S. my Bradley M3A3 won first place in the OOB category.

Was up in Andy's neighborhood (where all the rich folks live <g>) for a trip to the hobby shop and the fly shop. Good part was that Golfsmith was closed! I then stopped by the fly shop, and left with two new spools of line ($$$) and a new reel on order (even more $$$).
I left the hobby shop with four kits and some aftermarket stuff. Another Tristar Panzer IV/70(A). Got my hands on another Italeri AS42 Sahariana, and the 15 CWT truck. Plus a Revell / ICM Opel Blitz truck. Rest was Marder AM stuff. Years back I bought another Sahariana off Ebay, and thought the kit was OK, but not worth the $30 I paid for it. Then I find another with completely different box art for another five dollars. I bought it on a whim (always liked the AS42). This newer kit uses the same plastic, but also comes with a 45mm gun and photo etch. The other kit came with a 20mm Breda, while the new kit came with two different guns. Tires are rubber, but have found a source for new plastic ones. The kit came with a metal gun tube for the Breda, but the other is plastic. Now I have to find Italian Army figures from Africa.
I have another Tristar Pz. IV/70 kit, but now I can build the two I wanted to do. The 15 CWT truck is going to Russia in Lend Lease. The Opel is probably going to just become a beat up resupply truck on the Eastern Front. Perhaps towing an ammo trailer. (by the way the Revell kit as almost $10 cheaper than the ICM).
Now I have Holcomb's taxes looming, and a $350 fly reel coming, so I won't eat till June! gary

The PE-2 project is turning into something a bit bigger than initially planned - so some of these are going to be added:

Ah, great. ICM is partially reboxed by Revell. If you need some more, let me know.

Ah, great. ICM is partially reboxed by Revell. If you need some more, let me know. was surprised by the mold quality of the ICM kit. I bought the Revell Tiger II awhile back, and I'd put the mold quality right up there with a Dragon, but not Takom. The only nitpick I have with the Tiger II is the lack of one of the cables and the tracks just don't look great. As for more ICM kits, I don't know what they sell to be truthful. I do know the sell a couple towed cannon that look interesting. gary

ICM do some pretty good stuff - I'm about to add a Studebaker US6 to the stash. Problem with that one is that you need to replace the wheels unless you're building a post war truck. More wingies just landed on my doorstep: But it's German I hear those you know my faible for soviet stuff shout - don't worry, found a great pic of some soviet captured ones

These arrived the other day. They are a custom set of masks from Gator's Masks (Kenny Loupe). This will paint out to make this which will be the background for my 1/48 scale Stompie Build (The Mandella Way T34/85)

Have heard good things about the FW's from HB. I can recommend the Zvezda LN series and a couple other Russian aircraft. Accurate Minnatures did some Russian aircraft in 1/48 like Zvezda. Kinda been watching for a deal on a 1/32 Mig, but so far elusive. gary

Which Mig are you after? I'll keep my eye out if you want - occasionally kits on German ebay crop up where the sellers only accept bank transfer as pmt and don't send abroad.
