Nice touch for the missing mud guard and mount points. Looks like you've made the most of your 'bachelor bench' for the day!

Thanks Bill... It was a fine day indeed. The wind died down enough to get a nice fire going in the pit too.great end to the day.

Thanks Deano. Last night was devoted to improving the molded cables and barrel cleaning rods. The rods are .7 mm Albion aluminum tubes with a some thin wire glued in the ends. The tow cable is made with 4 strands of .01" lead wire and the track cable on the side twisting 2 thin strands of annealed copper, then twisting 2 of those to end up with a cable that was just under .03". The kits loops were drilled out for reuse.

Great progress on this one. Can't wait for the paint to start flying. Thanks guys. For the tungsten powder you nailed it Jimmy. I bought it a while back to add weight to the nose of a plane with trike gear. Very dense and the powder pours into odd places and sealed in with CA glue. Now I use it as a weight. That 2"x2" jar weighs just over 1/2 lb. Thanks! That's a great tip. I'll have to remember the stuff next time I need some weight in the nose of a build. Where do you source it from?

Andy, I am not sure... but I may have heard that about you... once... maybe.
Jimmy... Golfsmith shops. It's made for weighting club heads.

Wanted to start painting the other day but no primer and no Tamiya dark yellow on the shelf. And the LHS is closed on Mondays. Got down the primer coat of Mr. Finishing Surface 1500 Gray. Looked and smelled, oh boy does it smell, just like Mr. Surfacer so I am guessing just a finer grind on the pigment and a different label. The guy at the LHS said those product will no longer be shipped. Anyone else here that?

Some fine work there Marc! You seem to be taming the beast rather nicely!! You are a better man for having to assemble THOSE tracks my friend!!

Applied the yellow base coat I guess I can't put off the camo scheme decision any longer.

Camo time!
Hadn't heard anything about Mr. products being discontinued...that would be unfortunate.

Great start on the paint job!
Not aware about Mr Surfacer... used them a lot in the past but switched to Vallejo recently and I am pleased. Anything NOT to use those toxic strong thinners it was messy cleaning my AB each time. But I do agree Mr Surfacer primer is one of the best out there!

Rules are changing in the US over shipment of stuff containing certain chemicals, sounds like the Mr. Surfacer fell victim to that...I recall a similar issue with some Tamiya products a while back. Looking good with the DY on Marc, no excuses now on the scheme!

Wasn't that just a labeling issue with Tamiya? I know it all looks ever so slightly different now. Maybe Mr. Hobby will have to jump through the same hoops.
Wingy - paint? Paint?

Thanks guys. I wanna say the Tammy things was like Marc said, more of a labeling thing. The fact that these have fallen prey to regs is no surprise, the way that stuff smells. Sure does grab hold of the plastic though.

I decided to do the markings of the vehicle on the cover of the box. Here's a reminder... Not that it mattered that much but I am guessing they painted it yellow then one of the colors and left the line of yellow in between. Real easy on the 1:1 but as draw out the pattern with a pencil I knew that was not going to work in 1/48. So I butted them together and went back over with the yellow. About 5 o6 colors changes back and forth between the 3 for touching up.

Looking really good. One of my favorite patterns on a Tiger. Actually, I did the AFV 1/35 version a few years ago with the same pattern. It was a nightmare; especially since I was much less adept with an airbrush. I don't want to know how many times I switched between colors. Your everts are much better and in smaller scale getting close on this one!
