Work on car #3 took some big steps these last couple of evening with the enclosure of the cabin. The structure of the model require that the interior be sealed at this point. I'm also avoiding the use of pink foam as a substrate in car #3 and going with "pure plastic". The joints are easier to sand and blend. There will still be plenty of epoxy putty. But the putty will be more solid when attached to plastic. Final fitment checks before touching up the window glass and sealing it all shut.
I quite like how the profile is turning out.
The grillwork will prove complex. But I may be able to find something from the spares bin to make things easier.

AHA!! For me, you are aiming in the right direction! The third pic is really cool ans shows perfect the line of the car. And the atmosperic cockpit shot... really well done. It is a slick vehicle, now I am happy with it (if you allow me to say so).

I'm ditching the second car. I placed both vehicles on the road and realized that two cars is too much. Ideally, the scene should have two vehicles. But I can tell the story well enough with just one. And since car #3 seems to be going pretty well. I think the silver vehicle will be heading to the spares bin. It still has potential for something else. But it will be a while. Traffic jam! The Porsche's got to go.
Front end with some extra plastic mounted.
I'll be on the road for the next few days with a lot of downtime in hotels. Putty and glue will be a nice way to pass the duration.

I can see why you'd reduce the car traffic down to a single vehicle, don't want to overpower the whole scene and make it feel too cluttered. Car #3 looks like it's the best iteration in terms of clean lines, run with it!

A few days away and then back in the shop. Water soluble epoxy putty for smooth transitions between mismatched parts. Resin cast parts for my newest version of "hover pads". I still liked using the earbuds. But they were too easily recognisable.
I've also decide to go with a more simplified metallic paint scheme. This will speed up the whole project, as the hover car is my greatest holdup in getting the diorama finished. Thanks for watching!

Began cutting the first of the edge trim for the diorama. Putty joints wet-sanded and painted gloss black in prep for the metallic finish.

Looking forward to seeing how it takes the metallic finish. Putty work seems to have given it a nice set of curves.

Thanks, all for posting in. Getting the engine deck mostly completed. Lots of hoses and wires to add yet. But I hope to be able to finally call the hover car completed before thanksgiving.

That's it. It's pretty much finished and mounted in its final spot on the diorama. The scene will go dark for a week or two whilst I finish up the other elements and then I'll post the final diorama up here on MSC. From just the right angles, the floating effect isn't too bad.
