With a rare couple of quiet days I decided to have a crash build of one on the Tamiya 1/48 kits. I really like these as they - in my opinion - combine good detail, clear instructions and allow for a relatively quick and straight forwards build. Just at the basic hull etc stage at the moment but will be updating as I move on.

Love Jagdpanthers, no matter what scale. What camo-scheme are you going to apply?

I'm really interested in the late war schemes at the moment. So I'm stuck between a green with brown/yellow stripe or to go with a hull red; as if straight from the factory.
Oh the choices!

Looking good! Wish Tamiya would have included that little wheel behind the sprocket with the 1/35 Panther I'm building.

Okay so Vallejo black primer on and then an initial layer of AK Olivgrun Base and shadow. Also sprayed the skirts with Hattaka hull red (this will make more sense as the build develops)

I'm doing well today (wife is out!).... So managed to get a shading coat of Olivgrun and also to get an initial colour on the wheels. I'm going for the late war "mash up" look hence the various colours of different aspects.

Update from today's work...... Base layers using AK interactive Dunklebrun and Dunklegelb on the wheels. Some additional shading also added to the very low hull. Tracks primed using Vallejo primer (which I highly rate by the way). Question. ..how do others approach the link and length tracks? I tend to paint/basic weathering then assemble. After they are set I then weather further/in more detail. Curious to other approaches. Thanks

Making good progress! On the tracks question, whether Indy or link and length, I tend toward the same pattern you outlined.

I don't care for the Link and Length approach,I'd rather do complete Magic Tracks, but when I did them,I painted them individually, assembled and installed them, then touched up and weathered them on the tank.

I completely assemble the vehicle, including tracks, then prime, paint and weather from there, no matter what scale or style of tracks I'm working in/with.
I find I'm less 'precious' about paint finishes when doing the build process if they're not there in the first place.
Only time I ever pre paint anything is if there is going to be interior detail that will be visible after completion and I judge that I can't get a paint brush in there after its built, which in my prefered scale is quite often of late!

My way of dealing with link and lengths is by putting them in the bin and using indy links instead

Some more progress today. Base camouflage now completed and a couple layers of Matt varnish added. Details such as tools etc still to be painted. All painted with AK acrylics and Vallejo varnish. I haven't joined the top and bottom yet so any gaps etc. are expected!

Sorry for the lack of posts on this one but what with drying times and the start of half term....... Started to make progress on the weathering of the lower hull... And the "straight from the repair yard" front panel.... Hoping to get it all joined up later today and then get started on the remaining weathering and detailing. Thanks as ever for all your comments

Hi all, Some more shots now the kit is fully assembled. I've started with the weathering; using Ammo, AK, Mig and Windsor & Newton products. I'm going to be doing more today by adding some "crew added" protection to the upper super structure. Cheers

Quick update in between emptying the garage (again) only to then be told to put it all back in again! Sound familiar to anyone? Anyway..... I have completed the basic chipping, just want to go back over some of them to make them look deeper. Added some small battle damage and crew added components. As ever I welcome any comments, suggestions or blank signed cheques

Brilliant finishing sir ! If it was mine I would soften the white markings a bit to blend them in with the rest of the weathered tank, my two cents but it's yours and big congrats anyway.
