So to say: The Great Train Robbery, featuring Toady in his first big role.

Good one Frank ! The engine compartiment was given extra and simple detail, I don't understand why Trumpeter didn't add the handles of the hatches for example, as they really make a difference, and there's more what can be done to the engine compartiment top. A piece of rod for the bell detailing, and styrene brackets to keep it down. The doors have door stops too, hello Trumpeter ? And where did the four tow hooks go ? Probably there's more I could have done to this part of the kit but I didn't find good reference pics... Anyway, we keep rolling rolling rolling ! Best regards ! AG.

Nice work on all the little added touches AG! Sometimes all you can do is shake your head at the omissions that pop up from time to time in kits like this.

Thanks Andy ! Thanks Leon ! Thanks Bill ! You're right, and scratching parts can be fun too. The driver's cabin was given a touch of styrene, there's more to be added later on. Best regards and have a nice weekend ! AG.

Love your added detail guy! Trumpy kits really can be a mixed bag - they often seem to find it difficult to srike a balance between buildability and accuracy. One of the few time they hit the nail on the head was with their KV-1/2 kits.

Dierk, I'm not an experienced Trumpeter kit builder, actually this is my first and I'm satisfied with it but I just don't understand why they forgot/didn't bother to add simple but effective detils like grab handles, door stops etc. The kit however builds up very nicely and without fit problems "shake the box and done" style. I'm glad you like the extra bits fella.
Thank you Wout bro !
Thank you Leon meister !

It's all about shunting Woutje ! Yesterday I raced from Roosendaal to Antwerp in 35 minutes, yes it was a local train believe it or not. We had a big delay so the race was on...I had a sportive driver, record broken and happy passengers saw their delay seriously shrinked, they even said thank you to me and the driver (which was unbelievable knowing how people are these days !). Soit, anyways, I fiddled along in the driver' compartiment and now it looks good enough to me. Tomorrow I will convert the doors of the compartiment as I want to show the interior with open doors and a curious GI taking a look. Best regards and have a nice weekend ! AG.

Well, often I can understand why people aren't so pleased with us or the company . But moments as these show that it can work out differently from both ways. If everything falls together it's a blast, and if people say thanks, well that's a more than positive extra I'd say. Lucky you, we don't get that as shunting drivers (unless the local zonechef - who is a topbloke, ex-boordchef - says to my superiors that he's happy with my/our work)^^ With that cool stuff inside it would be a shame indeed to leave the doors closed. Too much candy there! Cheers

Cool stuff! I've always wanted to do a train and this build might just be the reason I need to find one. Nice work on the scratch built details. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

Thank you Wout and Brian.
It's only one door I will leave open btw. the left driver's door.
Today I cut up the door and give it extra detail.
Best regards ! AG.

Nice work on the 'cockpit' Guy! You're not going to do a Bill on me and paint it green, are you?

Hi Dierk, I won't paint it green I think.
Did you build one too ? Do you have a link for me then so I can take a look please ? The BIG disadvantage of the kit is that Trumpeter didn't put decals in the box.
I want the decals for the kit but it will be hard to find them I'm afraid.
Picking a camouflage for it is the only solution in case I won't find them. Another problem, try to find reference pics of camo'd WR360 !!!

It's always fun to get a good look inside a vehicle fellas, and detailing can be real fun. Currently I'm adding/replacing some extras to the exterior of the driver's compartiment. To open up the left side I had to make a door post, I also added door handles as I didn't like the molded on ones. More tomorrow, have fun modeling !

Nice, must have been scary to cut out the door without messing it up. I know I would be scared anyway. You did well though, my young Padawan Cheers

Hi Guy,
Very impressive your detailing work. I hope only to be still visible, it would not be right for your effort if everything will be just close. Have good inspiration and rythme! Cheers,

Hello guys, here's a small WR360 loco update. Garden works kept and will keep me away from the hobby bench most of my time. I added grab handles. And the radiator was given a bit more detail, nothing special as it's so hard to find one good ref pic ! Nevertheless I'm having a blast with my choo choo... Best regards friends ! AG.

Leon, Dierk and Bill, thank you.
I'm sorry fellas, not much of an update for now.
However maybe this can be important.
I read that Trumpeter's WR360 C12 type was in fact a prototype with only 12 built and operating in Germany during WW2.
C14's however were used in occupied countries like France, Belgium etc...
The immediate question I asked myself was : can I use this kit for my Normandy diorama given the facts above ?
This is a text copy from another builder (Braillebuilder) who did a lot of research on it.
What is the difference between the C12 and C14 models ?
It has been reported there is a length difference of 350mm between the C12 & C14. I have yet to confirm if this is correct or incorrect information. And if the length does differ, which was the shorter, the C12 or C14.
It has been stated on the web on one site that the C12 had vertical radiator louvres and the C14 had horizontal louvres. Radiator louvres are not a reliable way to differentiate C12 from C14 versions.
Two different period Builder's Photographs of a WR360 show only vertical louvres. One has been identified as a C12. The other's type is unidentified. They both have identifiably differing paint schemes, this may be due to the fact that the C12s were built by two different manufacturers (BMAG, O&K), and the C14s were constructed at seven different manufacturers workshops (BMAG, O&K, Deutz, Jung, DWK, Henschel, & Krupp).
There are many post war photos of WR360s, taken up to the present day and most have horizontal louvres over the radiator (but not all have). The horizontal louvres look to be an addition added on top of the radiator vents, to control cooling & possibly in place to prevent dust, rain, ice and snow from affecting the radiator & cooling system. The horizontal louvre covers seem to be a later addition - and could have been added at any time after manufacture, or in any decade after the war had ended. There is a photograph of a WR360 C14 number 26139 built at the Henschel works in 1943, which was photographed at Schaarbeck (Belgium) in 1995 that clearly has the original vertical louvres, which is evidence enough that horizontal louvres are not proof of the type. WR360 C14 number 26140 is preserved in Neustadt museum and also does not have horizontal louvres. Both these were built by Henschel, though this is not enough proof to state that all WR360 C14 built by Henschel works can be identified by vertical louvres.
So there seems to be a length difference of barely 350 mm. Which one was longer, C12 or C14 ? Nobody can tell.
The vertical radiator louvres can be found on both types 12/14, so it's not typical for C12.
Not less than seven manufacturers built the WR360 C14 clearly all with their own minor differences.
I'll try to do more research but I'm quite confident I can still use this kit for my Normandy diorama build.
