Good evening. More or less by chance I got a kit of the Akagi here - even worse, a friend wanted it too and didnt buy it, so he didnt need his Lion Roar PE set for her anymore. So, I got the PE set too for a very handsome price (checked ebay, it costs about three times more there). Most probably, I wont use all of it, for example the Hasegawa flight deck is very well executed in the kit. But nothing beats PE ladders, railings and such stuff. I had a look at MrVersatiles build, and lerned something about the rigging and creating water effects. Of course this wont be a two-week-project but most challenging. And thats what its meant for me: the challenge! And off we go... BANZAI!

Nice one Lucas! Now I've got nothing to sit on, as I've laughed my ar$e off! Although my personal vision of madness is rather less cute and toothless

Madness struck again. I thought to myself "When youre doing PE, then why not for the planes and guns too?!". And there we are. Polish PE for the barrels and Eduard propellers and landing gears in 1/700 additionally to the Lion Roar set. I cant promise that it will turn out ok in the end - Ill try to give my best.

Hell yeah that. Hows the fitting of the parts? A dream! You couldnt expect more for your money. Even without PE so far this 1/700 ship is a beast on the bench (its almost 40 cm long). Test fitting succesful.

Off to a good start Lucas! Funny thing about the Akagi...at one point in her life she had more than one flight deck and aircraft could be launched off the different decks simultaneously through that opening in the bow. I bet that made life really interesting for those pilots.

Looks like things are coming together nicely Lucas! Bridge...under deck works...all good! Even with this being large for the scale, the PE is never easy to work with in 1/700! Keep up the good work!

The planes were included in the kit, but not the PE - these are from Eduard (99044 IJN Carrier Aircraft).
