This is part 2 of biting off more than I can chew. This will be my tribute to the late Dan Jayne. This will be constructed as a cut away build and I will attempt to present it in a style that he did. The prep work begins. The first step is to decide where to make the cuts. What do I want to show on this. i sat and stared at the kit for several hours over several days before I felt comfortable enough to mark out the sections with a sharpie. Next is some actual fabrication. Using sections of a large styrene sign I rough cut and then fine tuned the bulkheads from the rear of the cockpit to the tail. My next step will be to overcome that fear and actually cut into the plastic to open up the sections. Not much yet but all comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

Ohhhhhhh boy...VERY interested!
If you decide to scratchbuild the engine and prop (hahahaha) I could use the kit parts for a S-199 conversion I've been wanting to do using a Trumpeter 109G kit as the base. Mmmmmmm, Israeli 109!

Very kind. I am afraid there will be no scratching of the engine and prop.

It has been a while How about I bring this back to the bench. First up is to take a good look at the kit parts. The interior looks pretty dang good actually. I am thinking I will go with this for the most part. There is a bit I want to cut off to open it up a bit and I do want to add just a bit. More soon I hope. This is back and ready to be worked on. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

Before I can really get into the detailing on the interior of the fuselage I need to prep the interior of the fuselage a bit. The tail is framed, this may not be accurate but it does match up with the rivets on the exterior. The stringers are also in. Still a touch more to do but nearly ready. Sorry just one picture this time around. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

Joe Sorry I'm late to the party on this. This looks like one in depth build and you're a braver man than me!! Will be watching this one with interest. Keep at it. Andrew

Many thanks Andrew. To be honest it appears I will be doing much less scratch building than on the previous attempts at cut away aircraft. The detail looks to be mostly spot on.

Ok here I go again. Kind of a jump in progress this time around. Although it did seem to be more of one step forward followed by a dozen backwards. First up, the interior got its paint. Gloss Grey followed by Alclad Chrome. I then went to work on the pit. First the color is Model Master RLM 02 Enamel. Some scratched parts for a number of reasons and then a shot of them together. And then something I rarely do. Figures. I cleaned up and then sprayed Flat Black. I shall, for the moment, call them Hans and Franz. Not sure they will end up in the final edition as the poses do not seem to fit very well with the interior. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

How about a really quick update on the 1/24 JU-87. Still filling out the detail on the interior, this update shows Hanz and Franz are now occupying the positions that they are required to. There were some minor things like the Morse set that is just too small for me to get a good pic of and a couple of cables. I still need to add more cables and a cross brace. However I am getting anxious to get to painting. I know that the easiest way to do these is to paint the areas that have the cutaway prior to completing the closure of the fuselage. But even with the eagerness to paint I do not wish to run before I walk. I want to make sure all is as complete as I can get it. Thus the documentation of the very minor progress. I must admit I am finding myself siting and staring at this build. I find myself wondering what Dan would do, how he would approach some of these things. Somewhere in the back of my mind I am sure of one thing. He would encourage to just do it. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe
