Er, yes. Not. The sprue numbers next to have crisper detail... Indeed Tobi - looks like they let the work experience guy do the sprue. I really hope for DML's sake that this isn't a sign of things to come. So, some paint got thrown at it over the last couple of days. The German bits got a layer of Panzergrau primer the soviet bits 4BO primer: Forrest of wheels on sticks: Next came the Vallejo 4BO modulation set. The DS tracks got sprayed with German camo black brown: More soon. Thanks for popping by and ACW.

You shouldn't have - gave me a wonderful tea-snot moment At least you're nearing the end of this little tortured adventure! Paint is something you can depend on at least. I think Dragon has contracted Victory disease in their approach to kits, prices, and marketing. They have hungry competition that will eagerly take advantage of their complacency.

thank you for your continued interest gents - I suspect it may exceed my own at times At least the interesting phase has started: weathering! I'm having to edit the pictures quite a bit - just can't convince the camera to see the correct colour most of the time. Anywhooo - introduced some damage to the road-wheels, painted them and started the chipping process. I've decided to not go over-board with the chipping - as I've left off the external fueltanks this represents one of the 20odd surviviors of active service that had been withdrawn and used to train crews behind the front lines. The very small contact patch of the headlight was only strong enough to survive the AB session, so I'll be adding that at a later stage. Enough blah, pics: Wheels are only dry-fitted - didn't notice at the time the idler had a peculiar angle of dangle: Next I'll be practicing with some oils, me thinks. Thanks for taking the time to have a look and ACW.

You are a trooper to soldier on with this. I think any of the frustrations you have had with this would have pushed me over the edge and into the "battle damage achieved by smashing against the concrete wall behind my model bench" frame of mind.
Looking good with some paint on it!

Cheers gents! dierk You are a trooper to soldier on with this. Looking good with some paint on it! Had I bought this myself and wasn't obliged to do a build review its fate would've been sealed a long time ago, and this thread would've died along with it Once it is done, and all the useful bits stripped off I'm tempted to nail it to my front door as a warning to other kits of its ilk to not cross my threshold

Best I could do. You need some type of de-fuser between the light source and the tank.

You are doing a great job on this...who says you can't polish a turd? On your pictures...You might try backing your lighting off a little bit as the overall brightness level looks a bit high. One trick you might try to get the color balance correct is to put a piece of styrene thats been painted in grey in the background. You can use that to set your white balance, then crop in and remove it from the picture. What camera are you using for taking pictures? What software are you using to edit the pictures on your computer? I played around with one of your pictures. Without knowing the actual color of the background or the model, I was kind of guessing on the colors.

Happy New Year, Dierk. Nice work mate, lovely painting. I hear your pain on the colors and lighting. Can be a pain in the bottom. However, to find a diffuser between the light source and subject is fairly easy. I taped some paper towel in front of the lights Keep up the good work! Cheers

Cheers for the tips! I'm using a setup like thisSo diffusion shouldn't really be a problem? Lights themselves are too hot to tape anything to them. The camera I'm using for this is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50, and the programme's Windows Photo Gallery.

You may want to invest in a better photo editing program. Paintshop pro is powerful enough for most hobby needs and won't break the bank.

Another alternative is to subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud for Photographers, you get access to Lightroom and Photoshop for $9.99 a month. Adobe Creative Cloud for PhotographersThen you'll have access to everything you could ever need from a photography standpoint.
