Just starting a new project. This will be a 1/24 scale science fiction dio I have had in my head for a while. I will be using some Star Wars characters in this one.

The skull thingy needs an extra horn -- like a tuskonoserous or a crumple horned snorkack.

Where'd you get the skull thingy? Cool! I brought the skull thingy on Aliexpress. I got a set of 6 dinosaur skeletons for about 20 US dollars. Includes this mammoth. T Rex, The flying one - I think the name starts with P and some others. Thought they may be useful for scenes like this. I am about to make my own rib cage as I don't like the one that came with the skull.

The skull thingy needs an extra horn -- like a tuskonoserous or a crumple horned snorkack. When I first read this I disagreed with your suggestion due to the fact that the horn would be useless as with the length of the tusks the beast could not get close enough with the horn to inflict any damage with it. As the days have passed I have warmed to your idea as the horn will help to make it look different to your standard garden variety mammoth. Regarding names I prefer Tuskonoserous to the Snorkack I think ....so Tuskonoserous it is.

Cool horn - almost unicorn like - which might have my daughter interested.
For some reason there's a bit of a unicorn craze sweeping certian segments of the UK population at the moment. Don't ask me why I have no idea.....

Beginnings of the rib cage of the dead Tuskonoserous. John Everett : Are you sure you have spelt Tuskonoserous and Snorkack correctly ? My Spell Check is getting very upset.

Yep. I'm pretty sure your spell checking software is poorly informed.
This looks like it will be fun.

Loving the idea with the Tuskunicornerus! May I suggest you check your dictionary. I believe Tuskunicornerous may in fact be the correct spelling ?

Hmm, I have heard that people in your hemisphere can be, how shall I put this, different? But around these parts spelling isn't faith-based It's definitely Tuskunicornerus. After all, it isn't Homo Erectous either, nor is there such a thing as a Bronto Saurous last time I checked

I'll let my daughter know that a dead unicorn(y) looking thing lurking on here. Dierk, I hate to burst your bubble but I'm not sure that there actually ever was a Bronto Saurous/Saurus - apparently there is a body of paleontological opinion that thinks they did not exist and that they are actually mis-classified Apatosauri (singular: Apatosaurus). Having been brought up on the existence of the Brontosaurus as a child, I discovered this earth shattering development when I started reading books to my children and kept seeing references to Apatosaurus but no Bronties.... However, a more recent study suggests otherwise but apparently the Jury is still out! Links below in case you're interested/bored! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brontosauruswww.scientificamerican.com/article/the-brontosaurus-is-back1/

Don't bother - I checked with the missus, who is the highest authority there is, and she confirmed what I knew all along: I'm right (yet again)

See, told you the bubble would burst eventually. Nonetheless, be it a Bronto or an Apato, it's still a saurus, not a saurous. I rest my case. But, does that now mean that the Brontë sisters were really the Apatö sisters?

Nevermind Dierk mate, his dags have been rattled too many times hehehehe Good start on the dio, loving that ribcage!! Some food for thought..have you thought about adding some extra bones to the scene? Not too sure how easy they are to source in Godzone, but some crushed up mice bones might go well here (serious, no jokes!) Cheers, Shay

Mice bones would be a bit small I think. This is 1:24 scale. I have more plastic bones to add. I have realised that I have made the ribs far to big for the head. I guess my beastie will have the proportions of an emu or ostrich - little head with huge body.

My first time working with air dry clay for ground work. I really like it !. So easy to shape and you have lots of time to work with it before it starts drying. I spread white glue down then laid the clay on top. Hopefully it stays attached to the base.
