Well not much done the past week. I did get the tracks done and they will get a nice bath in viniger this weekend. Started drilling the hole in the Sherman Fruil tracks. One side done and will drill the rest, then wire them up. Both tracks will get the AK Burnishing treatment.

Thanks fellas.
GB, we'll see. i think T mentioned starting one when some of the others have ended.
The vinegar I use for cleaning the tracks. First a soapy wash, then the vinegar to start the etching process. You can add vinegar and bleach to etch tracks but this should be done out doors as the fumes are VERY toxic.

Well spud...I would have to say if you were to add anything, add the bleach to the vinegar as the more volatile chemical would be the bleach. HOWEVER Rob has been working with his mediums for a number of construction techniques and we all know he is good with it.....I need to add at this point that mixing Vinegar with Bleach will undoubtedly increase the power of the Bleach it will create Chlorine Gas... WARNING!! I think the term "waging chemical war on yourself" is not exactly what you should be looking for. Hence, the statement from Rob about being outside and having plenty of ventilation!! Ummm.....AK Burnishing fluid spud......safe be unless you are outside...probably wearing a mask. Boots - Hey bud!! I think there is a few sbs's running around on the burnishing fluid...if you can wait a few, I have to screw...uhhh, make up some tracks meself with the fluid!!! ;D

Sorry that I didn't explain in my comment, I didn't have much time and was getting ready to leave. As T has said, this is a DO NOT TRY AT HOME. It does produce a chlorine gas which is VERY toxic. Think about WWI and the poison gas used. Strange thing these two. Vinegar is great with oil and some herbs as a salad dressing, but is also great to clean the calc from a shower head, and other things. Bleach, well we know what bleach does. I also mix bleach with some water to kill nasty weeds growing in the cracks in the driveway. Mix the two and you get a poison gas...
As I said, I use the vinegar to clean the tracks so the Burnishing fluid gets in all the nooks so not to have white spots from bubbles etc. The AK fluid works great and is non toxic, so that's the way to go when doing Friuls. I have two bottles, one for the Tiggy and one for the Sherman tracks. Will be ordering more for the future.....another set of Tiggy tracks still need to be put together.

1 bottle will do 2 sets rob, supposedly.. although i find topping up the fluid with a new drop helps strengthen it again,

I found that I can only do one set of large tracks with one bottle. By this I mean Tiger I, Panther and KT tracks. Yes for smaller tracks you can easily do two sets. I'll try and see if I can get both the Tiger and Sherman tracks done with one bottle, if not I'll doo like you said, add some new fluid. Good thing about this burnishing fluid is that it's pretty cheap compared to say Blacken it.

ER- Brought my plane ticket to Philippines... see you soon!
Boss- Looking real good! Now you have given me a very good reason to bid for one of those WWII German gas masks on eBay. My wife won't let me but I thinks she will after I show her this. Looking forward to your update... things will slow down after my last trip hopefully.
