Ian, heated metal rod for the battle damage. Spud you crazy bugger, another one on the !!
Still digging for spare Dragon parts for the Tiger. Glued and cleaned the Feifel air cleaners, just have to mount them. Thought I had spare metal shackles I could use on this one, will have to check the basement and shed. need to clean wheels and do the tracks still.

I figured you would like the Tiger Wout's . I worked on the Feifel cleaners late last night and will take a few pics today and post them up. Also got the PE ( SS PE like the Tamiya ones) screens on and will dig for more Dragon parts this afternoon.

Just a couple of pics of how she looks at the moment. The Dragon parts are really much better and have more details. I had to use the black rubber hoses from the Acadamy kit as I don't have the Dragon ones. Not too bad and look the part. Still more to come later.

Might get the turret interior painted, as well as the exhausts. This way I can finish the turret. So question to you Tiger fans. Did all the Kursk tigers have the smoke candle tubes on the upper hull and Turret Not sure if I should add these since I do have some in the spares box, Dragon parts !!

Hi Rob, looking forward to this baby!
I can't help you with your Kursk question sorry. I've been researching Tiger IIs but not so much these ones.

Thanks Chris, and yep, we have all build a Tiger or too at one point eh. Tiger's are pretty cool and have a certain appeal to them.

Nice one Rob.
About the candles: It seems quite certain to me that the ones on the turrets were there. The smoke dischargers on the hull were a post December '42 feature. Since the single chamber Feifel air cleaners were a feature which was fitted from March '43 on I'd say, yes, the candles on the hull were there as well.
Looks good mate!

ah, thought so Wout's, thanks mate. I have a squadron Signal Panzer Colors III which shows some Kursk Tigers. I also have the Spielbeger book, but not much for pics in that area. Seems pre and post Kursk Tigers had the cleaners and then removed afterwards, before winter. As for the candles, it seems to be mixed.

yup. I did read somewhere though that sometimes the crews removed the candles themselves: when hit by a round they would explode and leave the crew blinded by their own smoke. One of the reasons why it was later on discarded during production.

Tiger is looking mighty good!!! I am starting to loose count how many Tiger WIPs we have here. Hinksy, yours and mine... maybe Wouter too?
Clean your bench? Easy, just invite friends with OCD issues over and they will have your bench sparklingly clean in a heart beat. LOL
